2021 marks the 20th year Shamrock Angels will be participating in the Relay for Life! Over the years, our small team of family and friends has raised over $150,000 for the American Cancer Society, making us one of the biggest fundraising teams in the state of Illinois! Our family began doing the American Cancer Society Relay shortly after the death of my grandmother Helena Finnegan in 1999, and we
've named our team the Shamrock Angels in her honor. Unfortunately, she's not the only family member or friend that we've lost to cancer, or seen fight this battle. Shamrock Angels team members walk in memory and in honor of mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, daughters, neighbors, coworkers and friends. Shortly after Relay several years ago, my father Frank was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. Due in part to the awareness raising programs of the American Cancer Society, he took notice of a strange change in a mole, went to his doctor, and was diagnosed and in treatment at Northwestern very quickly. We are pleased that all of the cancerous cells were removed and he was deemed cancer free within weeks of his diagnosis! Donate at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/shamrockangelsteam
