Loyola Medicine recently donated its pediatric mobile health unit to Family Christian Health Center of Harvey, expanding access to essential healthcare services for underserved children and families across the south suburban region.

The pediatric mobile health unit, a fully equipped doctor’s office on wheels, has served more than 157,000 children and young adults in underserved Chicago-area communities since it began operations in 1998. The newest 30-foot mobile unit, launched in October 2014 with support from the Children’s Care Foundation, has two clinic rooms and is designed to provide a wide range of services, including physical exams, immunizations, health screenings, lab tests and health education.
