Hart Community Food Ministry

Hart Community Food Ministry The Hart Community Food Ministry is a Christian Organization made up of members from different denom WHO ARE THE FAMILIES AND HOW DO THEY PARTICIPATE?

Food security is defined as the ready availability of nutritionally adequate food. When people have to go without buying food in order to have enough money to pay rent, they do not have food security. When people have to fill up on cheap, unhealthy food in order to have enough money to pay for a prescription, they do not have food security. We are asking existing agencies in the community (school

counselors, Juvenile Justice, Head Start, the Senior Center, Ninth District Opportunity) to help identify the potential HCFM members. The families will meet federal guidelines and self-select into the program. Every other week the families will gather to unload a truckload of food provided by the Athens Food Bank. The cost of the food will be paid for by HCFM. The families will be responsible for dividing the food for distribution. There will be meetings held every other week. The meetings will afford members an opportunity for social interaction, personal growth, and development of leadership skills. WHAT MEMBERSHIP DOES
