For followers of our page, the story of Duke, the beautiful Spaniel mix we rescued from Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in late August, is likely familiar. Despite our limited capacity, both then and now, certain dogs have a way of capturing our hearts, making it impossible for us to leave them behind. Due to our lack of foster space, Duke spent a substantial portion of his three-month stay with us in boarding, generating minimal interest until recently. This development serves as a powerful reminder of our mission. In a remarkable turn of events, the stars aligned, and last Tuesday, Duke received a perfect application, which was swiftly approved. The applicant, who lives in Vermont, was 100% willing to drive the seventeen hours to collect her new companion. We were fortunate enough to know the wonderful people at C&T Williamson Transport, who we entrusted with Duke's safe travels to Vermont. The hand-off occurred last night at around 8:30, and the new owner reports that Duke is settling in beautifully, displaying happiness and sleeping soundly through the night. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who played a role in this wonderful outcome. Your support is crucial in making these happy endings possible.
