Morning Connections was welcomed on Wednesday by Susan Kelly, owner of Hometown Antiques, for a Roadtrip and Ribbon-Cutting to mark their first anniversary. For Susan, this is her retirement project, and since the shop opened last year, they have already expanded their footprint once.

Hometown Antiques is a sister store to the Hartville Antique Mall and Vintage Rooms in Suffield, with a focus on smaller items and home decor. The store is known for its exceptional prices, and business partner, Veronica, noted that even other dealers make Hometown Antiques a must-stop on their regular routes. Staff will often call their sister shops to check inventory and are always willing to help customers find specific items on their wishlists, whether in-store or by directing them to other shops on the Hartville Antique and Thrift Trail.

A love of vintage and antiques runs in the family, as we also met Susan's son Jonathon, owner of Akron's Killer Video, a non-profit museum themed around 1980s horror videos.

Antique lovers should mark their calendars! August 1st is the annual Antique & Craft Show at Antique Mall. This event is a fundraiser for the Lions Club. The outdoor show will feature over 50 dealers, food trucks, and raffles, including a hot air balloon ride!

Hartville Antique Mall and the Lions Club will also host a fireworks viewing party on July 4th.

Be sure to stop in and check out everything they have to offer here, and also the upcoming Antique and Craft Show!

Art in the Park was a slightly abbreviated version this year, due to the weather, but those who came had so much fun! There was lots of art on display, crafts to make, delicious food and beverages, live music, and plenty of shopping from talented local artisan vendors! We were able to hold the ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the downtown Heritage Gateway. Congratulations on a job well done! Have you located your paver yet?

Our Morning Connections Road Trip led us to the new Pulp Juice and Smoothie Bar - Hartville on Wednesday morning for networking and a ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Pulp Hartville owner Arielle Kenyon first began working at a Pulp store in Kent while she was in nursing school. After graduating, she continued to work at Pulp because she really enjoyed it and strongly believed in the products they sell.

She soon realized that nursing was not her path. Instead of treating illness with prescriptions, she found her passion lay in helping people be healthy from the inside, through eating healthy, natural foods.

Setting her sights on having a Pulp franchise, Arielle worked to save the money and began the process of franchise ownership with her first store in Beachwood. That’s right, Hartville is her second store, which has been open for about four weeks!

A Brimfield native, Arielle has a love of community that makes Hartville a “natural” fit. The people here have warmly welcomed her and the Pulp brand, making her venture into Stark County a very positive experience!

Stop by, say hi to the Pulp team, and try one of the many flavors and varieties Pulp offers!

This annual event will feature artists, music, makers, food trucks and a 2 p.m. dedication of the Heritage Gateway.

We recently celebrated a ribbon-cutting at Hartville Dog Haven during Morning Connections networking. Janet and Jim Fairhurst started Hartville Dog Haven kennel as their retirement business, seeing it as something the whole family could be involved with. They create a calm, safe space your pup will love, and provide worry-free boarding and daycare that prioritizes your dog’s safety and happiness.

Entering the property, the kennel area is clearly marked by signs and a pathway leading to the kennel office and entrance. There is space to board four dogs overnight and additional space for daycare guests.

✓ Limited capacity for personalized care
✓ One-on-one attention and small playgroups
✓ Snuggles, belly rubs, and enrichment every day
✓ Calm environment for shy or sensitive dogs

Jim and Janet are the kind of people who really care about dogs, paying special attention to their four-legged guests' schedules, temperaments, and activity levels. For dog owners, you’ll want to check them out the next time you need a place to leave your beloved pups where you can feel confident they’ll receive plenty of attention and TLC!

Welcome to Hartville and the Lake Township Chamber!

We held a split-location Morning Connections this week, with coffee, refreshments, and intros held at the Chamber Office before we walked a few steps to Kelley Print Shop, where John gave us a brief tour. After a 30-year career in IT and computer science, John started Hall Star Sports with a partner. It later morphed into the current business, Kelly Print Shop. The name harkens back to John's father's business in Randolph, Ohio, where he and his brother grew up helping their dad part-time. Today, they ship screen-printed shirts and hats all over the U.S. and beyond!

Stop in and see all the local merch they have in stock, or make a custom order for larger quantities of shirts! (The Hartville sweatshirt shown is only $20 and comes in multiple sizes and colors!)

A meaningful addition took shape at the Heritage Gateway in downtown Hartville this weekend.

The new backdrop wall—featuring a custom Ohio silhouette with a historic Hartville image from the early 1900s—beautifully connects our community’s past with its future. This feature not only enhances the space but also creates a welcoming landmark for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.

This project reflects the continued investment in placemaking along the West Maple corridor and reinforces Hartville’s identity as a vibrant, connected community.

Be sure to stop by, take a photo, and experience this new gathering space firsthand.
