Important Notice:
Today at our Monday staff meeting, we all sat around trying to find a way to avoid this post. Where can we put more animals? Who can work more hours? Where can we get more bulk supplies? How can we get the public more involved to help? The answer isβ¦.. we donβt know. We are out of dog food again. We are short staffed again. We have more animals at the office than kennels again. We have more injured cats than kennels again at the clinic. At this time last year, we had 313 animals in our care. We currently have 448 animals with less staff and the same operating budget.
We have finally reached our breaking point.
We are temporarily closing our intakes, even to emergencies, temporarily. We have had to do this a couple times in the past but always end up opening them back up too soon, hence the 448 animals. This time we will not be answering the emergency phone. :( We DO NOT TAKE THIS DECISION LIGHTLY as we have made wonderful relationships with law enforcement agencies and we know how much our community depends on us. We really want to help every animal, we just do not have the manpower or resources to do anymore right now.
As soon as we can get the animals from our clinic, emergency kennels, boarding, and our office, we will be able to open intakes again. (This means approximately 15 dogs and 21 cats.) If you are currently on our waiting list, we will keep in touch with you as soon as there is space available but no new animals will be added to the list right now.
If you see an injured animal on Facebook, please do not tag us as we can not help right now. Please donβt bring animals you find to our office and please do not email us that you are going to kill an animal if we canβt come get it. We have given everything we have to our community, day and night, and we just need a minute.
Here is what we need right now from our community:
