During the month of August Pampered Chef doubles donations for fundraiser parties! I have chosen to run a virtual fundraiser party link through the entire month of August to raise money for the Dylan Adams Endowment. The Adams family is a very dear to my family and this is an amazing opportunity for us to give to the Dylan Adams Endowment for pediatric cancer research and those effected by pediatric cancer!

One thing we wanted to do with the fund at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s hospital, was have something set aside for the pediatric oncology nurses. We weren’t sure what that would look like, but let them use it how they thought it would best be used. They shared this impact statement with us today. We wanted to share it with all of you. 9️⃣9️⃣🎗️

The majority of the money goes to families with children fighting cancer, research (in the “hard” sarcomas and having a full time
Phychologist on the Pediatric Oncology floor. But we are so glad we could do something for the nurses that made long hospital stays so much brighter!

Sept 24, 2018 is the day my world stopped. The day we found out Dylan had a mass in his abdomen. We would later find out he had Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor, a cancer so rare only a few hundred cases worldwide since the 80’s. No first line treatment. A “hard sarcoma”. Can you imagine your child being diagnosed with a cancer so rare it doesn’t have its own treatment. I hope you never have to. My boy fought with everything in him for 25 months (1 month longer than the 15% survival rate). It took countless chemo treatments, a 20 hour surgery that removed 809 tumors, 5 weeks of “WAR” radiation, so many needle sticks and port accesses, an 11 day ICU stay for sepsis, many blood transfusions, isolation and so much more-just to survive this beast for 25 months. This is the reality of Childhood cancer. It’s not pretty and certainly not for the weak. These kids are warriors in a battle we could never imagine. September is Childhood cancer awareness month, go gold for Dylan Adams, a perfect boy who fought a courageous battle. 9️⃣😘🕊️🎗️💛

We are so glad to partner with Wild Heart Brewing Company for this event! Wild Heart is a huge supporter of Dylan’s endowment and they always go above and beyond! With their help we have helped so many families in the exact place we were a few short years ago. We also help with food cards while in-patient treatment, some stays are several weeks to several months! We help with research both Desmoplastic Round Cell Tumor as well as “the hard sarcomas”. We help employ a full time Psychologist on the pediatric Oncology floor. All of this we do in memory of our perfect boy with the help of generous donors and sponsors! With this Endowment, Dylan’s legacy will way outlive us.
