🇵🇷 This weekend, the City of Hartford will celebrate the art, culture, and music of Puerto Rico with the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Park and Main Streets and Festival del Coqui in Bushnell Park. Note the street closures below:

Main Street: Closed between Park and Pearl from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Pearl Street: Closed between Main and Ford from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Park St.: Closed between Main Street and Park Terrace from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

The Parade begins at 11 AM, with streets along the parade route opening as the end of the parade progresses.

Last week, Hartford‘s Planning & Zoning Commission denied a proposal to convert 25 of the individual condo units in Bushnell on the Park into short term rentals, siding with city planning staff and residents who argued the plan would undermine long-term housing and alter the building’s residential character.

Officials said the proposal conflicted with city zoning rules and long-term housing goals.

published a map showing how many residents in each town were born in Connecticut. While the states along the New York and Rhode Island border have the lowest percentages, there are outliers midstate, including Hartford at 44%.

S**o neighbors and former neighbors: does anyone remember this happening? The first picture shows the house traveling east on Capitol Avenue at Main Street. The Linden is on the left, and the former Capitol Hotel (now apartments) and brownstones are on the right.

The application outlines 25 specific units that would be used as "furnished, short-term professional and corporate housing."

The permit application is listed on the Planning and Zoning Commission's agenda with a deadline to hold a hearing by Aug. 13, though no hearing date has been scheduled yet.
