What we do. . .
The Transport Hartford Academy is a program of the Center for Latino Progress - CPRF connecting people to issues of transportation that matter to them and have an impact on their daily lives and future lives, their personal development and ultimately the regional economic growth. Transportation issues whether the availability of or lack thereof, matter across diverse demographics. It may in instances be an equalizer just as it can be a barrier, an economic engine or a hindrance. A concerted effort to increase the use of multimodal transportation includes and encourages self-advocacy and leadership; opportunities for improvement in individuals’ quality of life; access to education, employment, and culture; the region's economic vitality; and environmental sustainability. Hartford and the surrounding region have a marked lack of civic engagement on transportation topics, particularly transit, rail, and active transportation before the Center added THA as a program. The Hartford Foundation Public Giving three yearlong grant has seeded a shift in that landscape of awareness on these issues, the Center is committed to the growth and development to form a deeper connection with an expanded community.
