The 2026 REACH Book Author Contest is now open! Submit your book by March 12, 2026, for a chance to be featured in this year’s mystery-themed collection: “Secrets and Surprises.”

In partnership with the Hartford Public Library, winners will have their books added to the Park Street Library collection.

We are thrilled to announce that SINA has received The Betty Knox Foundation grant of $1,860 to help fund the printing of the REACH Book Author Contest!

A heartfelt thank you to the Betty Knox Foundation for their generous support! This grant will not only cover the printing of the 10 winning books but also ensure that 100 copies are distributed across all Hartford Public Library branches for circulation. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring these incredible stories to our community and celebrate the amazing talent of children and young authors in grades K through 5!

Last week, the amazing Jello Crew volunteers joined us at SINA! Huge thanks to them for helping run a children’s writing workshop for the Young Author Book Contest at CREC, writing 100 cards of encouragement for student backpacks, and 100 letters of college advice for the Ivan Backer Scholarship applicants. We’re so grateful for your time and heart!

Join Greater Hartford community partners for a fun and informative nonpartisan event where you’ll learn about the power of your vote, access community resources to support you and your family, and receive tips to help you vote with confidence.

The FREE event will offer brief educational and interactive discussions, provider resources, voter registration, games, food, music, prizes, and more!

WHEN: Saturday, September 28, 10am-3pm
WHERE: Dunkin’ Park – Yard Goats Hartford.
The event will be located in the YG Club, a climate-controlled community space. Please use the VIP Entrance on the NW Corner of Dunkin' Park located on the corner of Main & Pleasant Street.
