Try on a little of Hartford’s fashion history starting Saturday, March 28th at Museum 53027 when downtown celebrates Ladies Day Out.
Hartford entrepreneur, Esther Frank, opened a millinery shop in 1917 at 69 N. Main Street. Hats were an important staple in a woman’s wardrobe and Easter hats were carefully chosen to match the Easter outfit. Feathers, frills, bows and tulle were combined to make hats worthy of Easter Sunday.
The shop expanded in size, apparel and popularity through the years and was known as Esther’s of Hartford.
We will celebrate 120 years of Esther’s history in 2027.
