✈️ National Accessible Air Travel Day ✈️

Today, we celebrate the progress made toward creating a more inclusive travel experience for individuals with disabilities.

While air travel once presented significant barriers for many travelers and their families, accessibility has come a long way. From wheelchair assistance and TSA Cares to sensory-friendly spaces, pre-boarding options, and improved staff training, airports and airlines are providing more support than ever to help travelers navigate their journeys with confidence, comfort, and dignity. 💙

Because everyone deserves the ability to explore the world with confidence, dignity, and a sense of belonging. ❤️

We're also excited to see initiatives like Breeze Airways' partnership supporting autism-friendly travel experiences for families, helping make the journey just as accessible as the destination.

Today on National Nonprofit Day, we celebrate the mission, the people, and the impact that make organizations like Harc possible.

As we mark our 75th Anniversary, we're especially grateful for the legacy that began in 1951, when a group of dedicated parents came together with a vision for a more inclusive future for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their advocacy, determination, and belief in what was possible laid the foundation for everything Harc is today.

The photos featured here are a reminder of how far we've come and the countless individuals, families, staff, volunteers, and supporters who have shaped our journey along the way.

For 75 years, Harc has remained committed to empowering people of all abilities to live fulfilling lives and be valued members of their communities. Today, we honor that legacy and celebrate the collective impact that continues to move our mission forward.

💙 Happy National Nonprofit Day.

👑✨Harc's 2026 LEP Prom: A Roaring Good Time!

The red carpet was rolled out, the music was swinging, and everyone arrived dressed to impress at Harc's 2026 Life Enrichment Program (LEP) Prom with its dazzling Great Gatsby and Roaring '20s theme!

From stunning flapper dresses and sparkling accessories to sharp suits and stylish hairstyles, our individuals truly brought their very best and looked absolutely fabulous. Even Harc All Stars: Rich, and Jimmy from PROBUS/Best Buddies came to the celebration

And guess who stopped by in his finest attire? None other than The Good News Guy and dear friend of Harc, Keith McGilvery! Keith helped make the evening extra special by announcing the highly anticipated Prom King and Queen.

👑 Congratulations to our 2026 Prom Queen, Maria!
👑 Congratulations to our 2026 Prom King, Rickey!

The LEP Prom is an event our individuals look forward to every year, and this memorable evening would not have been possible without our incredible and hardworking Direct Support Professionals. Their dedication, creativity, and countless hours of planning, decorating, and coordinating helped bring this magical night to life.

Thank you to everyone who made this event such a tremendous success. Congratulations again to Maria and Rickey, and to all who attended and made the night so special.

🎉 Here's to another unforgettable prom and to making even more wonderful memories next year!

🎒📚 It's Back-to-School Time! 📚🎒

Our amazing Harc working volunteers recently rolled up their sleeves to help prepare for CREC's Back-to-School Block Party! Together, they unpacked, organized, and filled 1,200 backpacks with essential school supplies to help local students start the school year ready to succeed.

It was a wonderful day of teamwork, community spirit, and giving back. From free backpacks and school supplies to valuable community resources, fun activities, and meaningful connections, the event helped students head into the new school year feeling prepared, supported, and excited to learn.

With families and more than 30 community organizations coming together, this event was more than just a celebration; it was an investment in the future of the Greater Hartford community.

💙 Thank you to our dedicated volunteers and community partners for making a difference, one backpack at a time!

💎 Thank You, Float Forty-One!

A heartfelt thank you to Sarah, owner of Float Forty-One, for generously donating three 90-minute Float Therapy sessions and three Infrared Sauna sessions as a luxurious auction prize for Harc’s Diamond Jubilee Gala!

With locations in West Hartford and Cromwell, Float Forty-One is dedicated to helping individuals reduce stress, improve recovery, and support overall well-being through science-backed wellness services, including float therapy, infrared sauna, massage therapy, contrast therapy, and halotherapy.

Float therapy, one of their signature offerings, provides a peaceful, low-stimulation environment where guests float effortlessly in skin-temperature water enriched with Epsom salt. The experience is designed to help the nervous system rest, reset, and recover, offering a unique opportunity for deep relaxation and renewal.

As Sarah shares, “When we turn the noise off, we're allowing the nervous system to reset and recover.” This approach can be especially meaningful for caregivers, first responders, military personnel, and individuals with sensory sensitivities who need time and space to recharge.

We are proud to recognize Sarah and the Float Forty-One team for their generosity and commitment to helping people feel their best. Thank you for supporting Harc’s Diamond Jubilee Gala and the individuals and families we serve! 💙

What better way to brighten someone's day than with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers?

Thanks to the generosity of Trader Joe's, Harc's new Bouquets of Kindness initiative is bringing joy and comfort to patients at Hartford Hospital. Each morning, DSPs Preston and Charles, along with Luis and Miguel from Harc's Bulova Center Day Program, pick up donated flowers from Trader Joe's and bring them back to Harc.

From there, our talented Artisans and volunteers transform the blooms into handcrafted bouquets filled with kindness and care. These special arrangements are then delivered to patients at Hartford Hospital, helping brighten their day and reminding them that their community is thinking of them.

A special thank you to Sarah Parsons and Sue Murphy for coordinating this wonderful effort. Sue's dedication to sharing donated flowers with others for more than 20 years has inspired countless acts of kindness throughout our community.

We are grateful to Trader Joe's for helping make this meaningful partnership possible. Together, we're spreading hope, compassion, and smiles, one bouquet at a time. 💐💙
