We're saddened to share the news of the passing of Trinity Chemistry alumnus Prof. Jim Larrabee '74. https://www.middlebury.edu/stories/archive/2026/03/memoriam-jim-larrabee
Prof. Moyer shared a memory of Jim: "Jim was probably one of our best students here – totally committed to chemistry. He did wonderful work with Henry [DePhillips] on hemocyanin and I suspect that experience together with inorganic chemistry gave him a love for bioinorganic chemistry."

A dedicated mentor, many of Larrabee’s students credited him with inspiring them to enter science-related fields.

Prof. Curran just published a paper with co-authors Lilly Pubillones '25 and Sara Ingrey '27:

The reaction of two diazopeptides with CuI in MeCN produces peptide derivatives of [E] and [Z]-aconitic acid via a trimerization reaction. Best yields of the trimeric products occur when 0.5 equiv of CuI is used. The conformations of the peptide derivatives of [E] and [Z]-aconitic acid were probed u...
