After many considerations regarding the pandemic, and following current recommendations from the CDC and local officials, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule Get Hired CT Career Expo. This event brings thousands of people together in close proximity to one another. While it is a difficult decision to make, we believe it is the responsible one to protect employers, job seekers, and our team members. Our Career Centers will continue to support job seekers through their employment journey, and we look forward to seeing you for Get Hired CT in 2021.

Only 2 days till Get Hired CT Career Expo! In an effort to help get you prepared for the day, we want to talk about the power of positivity. As a job seeker, you will meet several recruiters and not all will be as cheery as you. But, a sure fire way for them to remember you is to be positive - make eye contact, smile always, engage in meaningful conversation. Remember, not all recruiters may think you qualify for the position you're interested in, that's ok, it's not personal. Stay positive, take notes, and always take their business card so you can follow up with more positivity in an email the following day.

With 5 days till CT's largest career expo, we want to make sure you are prepared for the day. An elevator (or employer) pitch will help you and the recruiter frame the conversation. When you're able to express in just a couple of sentences who you are and what you're looking for, it helps the recruiter quickly identify the traits and qualifications that would meet standards for their company. This leads to an honest conversation that will either lead to further discussion, or allow you to find a more meaningful conversation with another recruiter. Either way, it's a win!
