The 23 Corps Community Centers are located in: (Connecticut) Ansonia, Bridgeport, Bristol, Danbury, Hartford (four locations), Manchester, Meriden, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Norwalk, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, and Willimantic; and in (Rhode Island) Newport, Pawtucket and Providence. There are some centers that have two very different worship programs -- one in English a

nd one in Spanish. Volunteer-driven Service Units are located in 51 communities throughout the two states. These units are an extension of the Army in places where a Community Center building is not located, with the exception of Winsted, where a Service Center provides food pantry, afterschool services and other programs. Service Unit volunteers can provide assistance to help people with utility and rental assistance, car repair, medical needs, and other unique services. Working in cooperation with other local agencies, a Service Unit serves to keep people in need from "falling between the cracks".

Another successful Donut Day is in the books, thanks to the generosity of our community partners. A heartfelt thank you to Lyman Orchards for donating 700 fresh donuts, helping us celebrate this cherished Salvation Army tradition in a meaningful way. Salvation Army officers from across Connecticut picked up their donuts this morning and will be sharing them with veterans at VA hospitals throughout the state.

As we celebrate, we also honor the legacy of The Salvation Army's Donut Lassies. During World War I, these courageous women served alongside soldiers near the front lines, providing comfort, encouragement, and of course, fresh donuts. What began as a simple gesture of care more than a century ago has grown into the National Donut Day tradition we continue today.

Today is about more than donuts. It's about remembering those who served, honoring those who continue to serve, and sharing a moment of kindness with our veterans. We're proud to carry on that tradition and grateful to everyone helping make it possible.

Happy National Donut Day! 🍩❤️

Did you know this sweet tradition began with The Salvation Army? During World War I, Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” served donuts to soldiers as a simple reminder of home, comfort, and hope.

Today, we celebrate that legacy of love, service, and joy — one donut at a time

❤️ Thank you to everyone who joined us for last weekend’s Women’s Ministries Conference at Camp CONNRI. It was a meaningful time of spiritual reflection, fellowship, and transformation through creative stations, workshops, and shared worship.

✨ A special thank you to our guest, Territorial President of Women’s Ministries Commissioner Susan Bukiewicz, for being part of this powerful weekend.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." -Isaiah 41:10

Thank you to the Bobcat Company for their generous $465K donation of portable generators and light towers to six Salvation Army locations across the country, including here in the Eastern Territory, in support of our disaster relief efforts. This support follows their earlier $885K equipment donation after Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

This equipment strengthens our response capabilities by helping power service centers, light parking lots during supply distribution, and ensures our teams are prepared to provide sustained support to communities impacted by natural disasters.

We’re grateful for Bobcat’s continued partnership, which helps our disaster response teams serve communities nationwide throughout recovery. Learn more about how this equipment is making a difference: https://lnkd.in/gfbCeUm9

Most people know The Salvation Army for the red kettle — but the mission goes far beyond Christmas.

All year long, The Salvation Army serves neighbors through food assistance, shelter support, youth programs, Camp CONNRI, disaster response, holiday help, and so much more.

This National Salvation Army Week, we’re celebrating the year-round work behind the shield and the people who make it possible.

Since 1954, National Salvation Army Week has served as a reminder of the important role The Salvation Army plays in communities across the country.

This week, we recognize the dedicated officers, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners who make this mission possible — helping meet human needs without discrimination and bringing hope to neighbors in every season.
