Thursday, August 20th & Tuesday, August 25th. Both dates from 5 pm - 6 pm at 75 Laurel Street. Please note, this is the same workshop, just offered at two different times in order to accommodate more people!

The Community Greening Manager leads community engagement for KNOX gardens and green spaces across Hartford, overseeing maintenance of 21 community gardens and supporting programs and events that increase access to green spaces in Hartford.

Yesterday would have been Marcus Garvey’s 139th birthday. As a leader of the largest organized movement in Black history, Marcus Garvey left an impact that continues to inspire generations. Nearly a century after his death, his work still creates conversations about community, identity, and empowerment.

In Hartford’s Blue Hills neighborhood, a park was built to honor his legacy and impact on the lives of so many Hartford residents. Recently, the Greater Hartford Green Team came together with local residents that created and care for the park, to freshen it up with new mulch and flowers.

Thank you to the group who joined us in this project! By coming together and working towards taking care of one another and our land, we’re helping keep Garvey’s legacy alive in a place that celebrates his impact on the Hartford community.

Thank you for joining us at Bushnell Park for the KNOX Garden Party last night! 🌿✨

Between the tours, carousel rides, music, and great conversations, we had such a wonderful time celebrating community and nature with you all. Your presence alone helps build and maintain green spaces, supports urban farming, and leads to beautification and restoration projects throughout Hartford. 💛
