The CATA has awarded the Secondary School Athletic Trainer of the Year to Amity’s Kim Pearce! Kim Pearce has served the Amity High School community for nearly a decade, demonstrating exceptional dedication to her student-athletes and the athletic training profession. She played a key role in advocating for a BOE contract model that better aligns with professional standards and enhances patient care.

Kim is a strong advocate and mentor within the profession, consistently supporting fellow athletic trainers by sharing resources, guidance, and connections. She also actively contributes her time to the CATA Secondary School Committee and is recognized for her kind, positive presence and commitment to elevating the profession.

The Gary Morin Advocacy in Athletic Training Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to advancing and advocating for the athletic training profession. This year’s recipient, Nicole Klarides-Ditria, has been a tremendous advocate for athletic trainers across Connecticut through both her role as a secondary school athletic trainer at Lauralton Hall and as a Connecticut State Representative. Nicole has played an instrumental role in supporting legislative efforts, guiding governmental affairs initiatives, and serving as a trusted resource to the CATA Board. Last week the CATA presented the Athletic Trainer of the Year award to Wesleyan’s Laura Litwin! The CATA Athletic Trainer of the Year award recognizes an athletic trainer who demonstrates outstanding leadership, service, and dedication to advancing the profession. This year’s recipient, Laura Litwin, has exemplified those qualities through her commitment to education, mentorship, and advocacy for athletic trainers across Connecticut.
