A broken family heirloom is now back where it belongs, around the family dining table. ❤️

A huge shoutout to Khan at Fresh Start Worx for his outstanding craftsmanship in restoring an antique Hitchcock chair. By repairing a split rail, resetting the cane seat, and carefully reinforcing the structure, Khan brought this treasured piece back to life.

The family shared that the restoration exceeded their expectations, and we couldn't be prouder of Khan's work.

Our new Fresh Start Worx location got a major makeover this past weekend thanks to volunteers who spent their Saturday morning painting, repairing drywall, and helping us create a beautiful space for the people we serve.

The Fresh Start team couldn't do this work alone.

Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made a lasting impact. The transformation is amazing!

Meet our newest summer intern, Jackson! Jackson has a really meaningful task during his time at Fresh Start. Here is what he has to say about this internship. Hello, my name is Jackson Korman and I am the Mechanical Engineering Intern for Fresh Start Worx for the next two weeks!

I will be researching, drafting, and designing using CAD software like SOLIDWORKS and Mastercam for the Orlando’s Closet System under specifications and requirements necessary for the project. The goal of this project is to provide a space for FSW students and employees to access professional clothing as they prepare for interviews and job placement.

As a senior level Mechanical Engineering student at Syracuse University, I am excited to continue learning industry standards and a better understanding on what I want in my future occupational journey. I’m excited to have hands-on experience with modeling real designs and on the shop floor using the CNC machine. I appreciate the opportunity to further my knowledge and hope to be as helpful and efficient as I can here at Fresh Start Worx!

Our Academy Director, Ricardo, recently attended a Table Day event hosted by East Hartford Youth & Social Services, focused on career exploration for local youth. Ricardo had the opportunity to connect with young people, discuss career pathways, and share how Fresh Start Worx helps individuals build the skills and confidence needed for success.

As Fresh Start Worx prepares for our move to East Hartford, CT, we are excited to meet new people, develop meaningful partnerships, and become an active part of this vibrant community.

We are grateful to East Hartford Youth & Social Services for creating opportunities that inspire young people to explore their futures, and we look forward to building many more connections as we begin this exciting new chapter in East Hartford.

Join us for a Volunteer Day at the new Fresh Start Worx location. Whether you can spare one hour or the entire day, we'd love to have you on our team as we:

✅ Set up rooms and work areas

Fresh Start Worx was thrilled to bring this bench and seating project to life for our partners at Holcomb Farm. Built with locally sourced lumber, this project represents more than just seating. It reflects the power of community collaboration, sustainability, and creating welcoming spaces for all.

As Holcomb Farm celebrates the opening of its new store and expands access to fresh, locally grown produce, we are honored to contribute to a space where neighbors can gather, connect, and support local agriculture.
