"One of our favorite things about this work? Seeing graduates trade their student hats for office plagues and community impact roles." 😄 Tamara graduated from the Garmany Worx Academy in 2025, launched herself into a position at Our Piece of the Pie in Hartford, CT. Last week, she reached out to schedule a call with her Academy Director to discuss ways our organizations can work together on projects to beautify the Hartford community.

Tamara's hard work and dedication remind us that the impact of her work goes far beyond graduation day. Our participants are gaining valuable carpentry and construction skills, securing employment, and becoming ambassadors for our mission. They are helping others learn about Fresh Start Worx, explore careers in the trades, and see what's possible when opportunity meets determination.

We're proud to see graduates like Tamara using their talents to strengthen our community and inspire the next generation of skilled craftspeople.

This past weekend, our Academy Director, Ricardo Santiago, represented Fresh Start Worx at the Preservation Trades Fair in Hamden, CT. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet preservation enthusiasts, community members, and supporters of our mission.

The fair highlighted education, traditional trades, and the importance of preserving historic buildings and craftsmanship. We were honored to be part of such an inspiring gathering of preservation professionals and organizations.

Things are 🍂 falling 🍂 into place at Fresh Start Worx!🏠️

We are excited to share that the Richard P. Garamny Fresh Start Academy has officially been renamed the Garmany Worx Academy. 🥳 Along with this transition, we have refreshed the Academy's logo to align with the Fresh Start Worx brand, creating a stronger, unified identity as we continue to grow and expand our workforce training programs.

This new look reflects our vision for the future and provides greater flexibility as we explore opportunities to broaden training services and create even more pathways to employment and economic mobility.

We are incredibly grateful for the many years of support from the Ricard P. Garmany Foundation. Their partnership and commitment to our mission have helped transform countless lives, and we are excited to continue building on that foundation in the years ahead.

We were delighted to welcome – Hartford’s EOP cohort to Fresh Start Worx this week for a morning of conversation, connection, and a behind-the-scenes look at our work.

Our team had the opportunity to share more about what we do, the people and communities we serve, and the vision behind our new East Hartford space. We especially appreciated the thoughtful questions and the opportunity for several members of our team to share their perspectives and experiences.

Thank you to Leadership Greater Hartford for spending the morning with us and for creating opportunities that connect leaders with organizations making an impact across our region. We loved having you here — and hope we made a few new Fresh Start Worx fans along the way!

Almost One Year Later... 🌿

It's hard to believe that it's been just under a year since the Fresh Start Worx team completed this beautiful courtyard enhancement project for the City of Wethersfield.

From custom arbors and a pergola to handcrafted garden trellises, this project was about more than building structures. It was about creating a welcoming outdoor space that could be enjoyed for years to come.

Every time we pass by and see these features standing strong and serving their purpose, we're reminded of the hard work, craftsmanship, and teamwork that went into making this vision a reality.

Most importantly, we're grateful for the trust that our customers place in us. Being selected to bring a project like this to life is something we never take for granted. Thank you to the City of Wethersfield for the opportunity to contribute a little extra beauty to your community.

We love looking back on projects like this and seeing the lasting impact that quality work can have. Here's to many more years of enjoying this space! 🌱✨

🥳 Big things happen when mission-driven organizations come together. 🤩

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between Fresh Start Worx and Rebuilding Together Hartford through a recently established Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration represents more than an agreement on paper. It reflects a shared commitment to strengthening our community, creating opportunity, and improving the lives of the individuals and families we serve.

At Fresh Start Worx, we believe that lasting change happens when organizations align around a common purpose. That is why we are especially excited to work alongside Dawn Whalen, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Hartford. It has been a true pleasure getting to know Dawn and witnessing her passion, leadership, and unwavering dedication to revitalizing neighborhoods and supporting community members throughout Greater Hartford.

The mission of Rebuilding Together Hartford perfectly complements our work at Fresh Start Worx. Together, we look forward to creating new opportunities, expanding resources, and helping more people build brighter futures. As the 2025 Birdies for Charity season comes to a close, our team at Fresh Start Worx is taking a moment to reflect on what an incredible honor it has been to be part of this amazing program.

This was our second year participating in Birdies for Charity, and we could not be more grateful for the opportunity. Through the support of the Travelers Championship, Aetna, Webster Bank, and the entire Birdies for Charity team, we gained valuable exposure, access to television and radio promotion, and the incredible benefit of a 15% match on donations made to Fresh Start Worx. Opportunities like this are truly rare and make a meaningful difference for organizations like ours.

Even more inspiring is knowing that we were part of something much bigger. Together, more than 300 charities came together through this program, helping raise over $5 million to strengthen communities across Connecticut. Being included among so many impactful organizations has been both humbling and motivating.

As we celebrated the conclusion of the season at the September 24th recognition event, we were reminded of the power of community, partnership, and philanthropy. We are deeply thankful to everyone who supported Fresh Start Worx through Birdies for Charity, and to the sponsors and organizers who make this program possible year after year.

Thank you for welcoming us into the Birdies family. We are proud to have been part of this remarkable experience and are already looking forward to participating again next year!

As we continue settling into our new home, we’ve been reflecting on just how many people came together to make this move possible.

We are incredibly grateful to our donors whose generosity helped create this opportunity, and to partners like Birdies for Charity, who helped make every donation go even further. Thank you to community partners like Sherwin-Williams for helping us transform our new space with paint, and to volunteers like Patrick, who generously gave up part of his weekend to pick up a paintbrush and lend a hand.

We’re also thankful for local businesses like Preferred Electric, whose team is helping equip our facility with the infrastructure needed to get our operations fully up and running again.

The truth is, it would be impossible to thank everyone individually. So many people have contributed their time, talent, and treasure to help Fresh Start Worx take this important step forward. Every act of support, big and small, has played a role in helping us build a stronger future for the individuals we serve.

This new chapter is a powerful reminder that when a community comes together around a shared mission, incredible things can happen.

🎉 It's amazing what a little vision, a lot of hard work, and an incredible team can accomplish!

Our new home at 101 Pitkin Street in East Hartford is really starting to come to life. From the transformation of our shop floor and classroom spaces to the personal touches, décor, and photos that showcase who we are, every day brings new progress and new excitement.

This short video captures just a glimpse of the hard work our team has poured into creating a space that will support workforce development, learning, and opportunity for years to come.

We couldn't be happier with how it's all coming together, and we can't wait to welcome our community into this new chapter for Fresh Start Worx!
