“Youth need to be involved in conversations about them.”

Last week, North Hartford Ascend and Childhood Prosperity Lab hosted four co-design sessions with North Hartford youth to gather ideas on social media and communications, leadership opportunities, community workshops, and program participation.

✨ By centering youth voice, we can better understand young people's needs, priorities, and perspectives—and create opportunities that are more relevant, meaningful, and impactful.

🤝 When young people help shape the programs, initiatives, and decisions that affect them, they become active partners in building stronger communities.

Together, we're building opportunities with young people—not just for them.

📊 The result?

🤝 94% felt a sense of community
🗣️ 100% felt their voices had a chance to be heard
⭐ 91% want to participate in future opportunities

What happens when community, resources, and family fun come together? 💜

Last week, families, neighbors, Ascend partners, and local organizations gathered at the North Hartford Ascend Community Fair to connect with valuable resources, learn about community programs, enjoy family-friendly activities, and even meet some special animal visitors from The Children’s Museum!

Stronger partnerships build stronger communities. 🤝

During our May Service Provider Engagement Meeting, providers came together to network, build connections, and explore opportunities for partnership in support of North Hartford families.

Ascend also introduced our Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework training, offered to partners to help strengthen their capacity to support children, families, and communities through a strengths-based approach.

Thank you to all of our providers who continue showing up, collaborating, and investing in stronger outcomes for our community. 💙
