At Trinity Health Of New England, Hospitality is Our First Act of Care, and that spirit shines through in the relationships our primary care physicians build every day.

“I chose primary care because of my love for helping people. I also love the continuity of care aspect of being a family doctor, that I build an ongoing trust and really get to know my patients’ medical needs over years, even seeing their whole families.” – Momina Afrede, DO

We're grateful for physicians like Dr. Afrede who make a difference through compassionate care and lasting patient relationships. Learn more or make an appointment at https://bit.ly/4gsgsFv

Men should never ignore the following symptoms:

📌 A new lump
📌 Ni**le discharge

"There's so much fear, and we're able to alleviate that fear by answering questions about what patients are most afraid of."

Those first conversations matter. At the Karl J. Krapek, Sr. Comprehensive Women’s Health Center, we're committed to surrounding patients with support from the moment a biopsy is recommended. Our breast health nurse navigator helps coordinate appointments and answer questions, while Dr. Douglas meets with patients before their biopsy so a trusted relationship is already in place before results are shared.

In this video, Allison and Dr. Douglas discuss how a compassionate, personalized approach can bring reassurance, comfort and guidance during an uncertain time.

"I will cherish him until I take my last breath on earth. He was an amazing man and doctor. May he be at peace knowing how much good he did while on earth." said Joan, a patient of Syed Bilgrami, MD, oncologist, at his recent memorial service.

When she first met Dr. Bilgrami, she was facing an ovarian cancer diagnosis and an uncertain future. Frightened and overwhelmed, she walked into the Cancer Center not knowing what to expect. Dr. Bilgrami took both her hands, looked her in the eye, and said, "You will be ok."

"His gaze held mine for a few minutes, and I believed him as if my life depended on it," Joan recalled. "Which, it did."

Dr. Bilgrami always remembered that healing often begins with something deeply human: a hand held, reassurance and a promise that you are not alone. In one of the most frightening moments of her life, Dr. Bilgrami gave her more than a treatment plan. He gave her confidence and hope that she could face what was ahead.

Across Trinity Health Of New England, we are inspired by the trust patients place in us every day. We strive to honor Dr. Bilgrami's legacy by caring for each person with the same compassion, presence and dedication. His example reminds us that while medical expertise saves lives, human connection can leave a lasting impact that endures long after treatment ends.

"Many women believe they don’t need a mammogram if they feel fine or have no family history of breast cancer. It’s important to understand that 90% of breast cancers are sporadic, not hereditary. Mammograms are screening tools designed to detect issues before symptoms arise. It’s natural to feel uneasy about a physical exam involving sensitive areas. However, mammography technologists are trained professionals who prioritize dignity, respect and patient comfort. Expressing concerns beforehand can help ensure a supportive experience." said Isha Emhoff, MD, breast surgeon.
