Last weekend Sagarmatha Leo Club hosted "Finanical Literacy makes the (American) Dream work" to provide a resource for the Nepali community in CT. We would like to again thank our speakers who devoted their time and effort into this program: Ramesh KC, Madhu Aryal, Deepak Khatiwada, and Aswin Atreya. We know living in America is a struggle day in and day out, especially for immigrants. For this reason, our club wanted to make sure our dollars do the most for us. Below you will find a link to YouTube where you can find all the speakers and their presentations. Below you will also find the presentations PDFs of each speaker:

Summary for Event:
First we heard from Ramesh KC uncle who is a Business Operations Specialist at UCONN. He talked about the college process. As a recent immigrant, it can be difficult to understand how the system works, and what the steps involved are, so he took us through some of the more important aspects of this journey.
Next, we had Madhu Aryal dai, a certified public accountant, who discussed filling taxes and a personal finance. He helped us understand what taxes are and why we have to file them, as well as how to ensure your future is financially secured.
Next, we had Deepak Khatiwada uncle, a certified realtor here in CT, who discussed the process of buying a house. In America, the ultimate test of success is often buying your own home, and this is for good reason as it is a good investment for your future. He discussed the many aspects of this major milestone.
And last but not least, we had Aswin Atreya who discussed how to avoid getting scamed online and over-the-telephone. He explained what signs to look out for, what to do if you see red flags, and how to keep yourself safe online.
