🌟 Meet Our Committee Member: Ashley Stewart 🌟

Hartford native Ashley Stewart serves as the Executive Director of the Connecticut Horticultural Society and brings over 14 years of nonprofit experience to our committee. Her background in grantmaking and organizational leadership provides valuable insight into strengthening partnerships and supporting community-driven growth.

Ashley is deeply committed to making a positive impact in Hartford through both her professional work and volunteer service.

Outside of her community leadership, Ashley enjoys life in Hartford with her six-year-old son, Zeus, and loves planning playdates and spending quality time with her partner, Brandi. 💚

We’re grateful to have Ashley’s passion, experience, and dedication on our committee!

🌟 Meet Our Committee Member: Kyra Brown 🌟

Kyra Brown has proudly called Hartford, CT home for over 40 years and is a devoted mother of two. She is the founding CEO of Keys To The Gate, a consulting business established in 2014, and Keys To The Gate Community Village, a community-based organization launched in 2024. Through both organizations, Kyra supports businesses, youth, individuals, and families by truly “unlocking their potential.”

During the winter months, Kyra operates a Warming Center for individuals experiencing homelessness and provides critical resources to community members in need. In recognition of her dedication and impact, she was honored as a 2025 recipient of the 100 Women of Color Award.

Kyra believes deeply in meeting people where they are and has spent the past 28 years empowering communities by teaching people “how to fish” and build sustainable futures where they live.

We are honored to have Kyra’s passion, leadership, and lived commitment to Hartford on our committee.

Committing to helping those in need, giving your talents to a cause you care about or giving an annual (or monthly!) donation to a local organization are a couple examples of how you can make 2026 a year of change.

🌟 Meet Our Committee Member: Anna 🌟

Anna is a real estate agent with the Brooke Team at eXp Realty and an insurance agent managing Legacy Insurance. With more than 15 years of sales experience, she’s known for delivering “white glove” service—helping clients find the right property and secure insurance with ease.

Outside of her professional work, Anna enjoys sightseeing, traveling, hiking, and reading, and values quality time with family and friends. 💙

Being part of the Hartford Greater Together Fund (HGTF) is one of the meaningful ways Anna gives back to the community she’s proud to support.

🎉 Grant Announcement! 🎉

The Hartford Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is proud to award 2025 grants to 16 local community organizations working to meet critical needs of Hartford residents.

💙 Grants range from $500–$5,000, totaling $46,000 this year alone.
Since 2021, the Fund has awarded 60 grants totaling $166,730 to support grassroots efforts across our city.

From student enrichment and prenatal care to meal services, family support, and senior services, these organizations are making a real impact every day. We’re honored to support their work and help elevate their visibility across Hartford.

Meet Lara Langer, Chair of the Hartford Committee for the past five years and one of its original members! 👏

Lara lives and works right here in Hartford and is deeply passionate about civic engagement, philanthropy, and community service — believing in their power to create thriving neighborhoods.

With a background in nonprofit fundraising and a Ph.D. in art history, Lara is also a strong advocate for the arts, culture, and the preservation of Connecticut’s rich history. 🎨🏛️

When she’s not serving the community, you can find Lara enjoying fall activities, live music, and museum trips! 🍂🎶🖼️

🌟 Meet the Committee: Murthida Salaou 🌟

Say hello to Murthida Salaou! 👋🏽 She is a sophomore at Miami University (OH), where she’s triple-majoring in Public Health, Data Analytics, and Individualized Studies.

On campus, Murthida is actively involved in a student-run Peer Health Education organization and Black Women Empowered, dedicating her time to building healthier, more inclusive communities.

Outside of her studies and leadership roles, she loves listening to podcasts, discovering new music, and spending quality time with friends and family. 🎧✨
