WAIT… YOU’RE EXACTLY WHO I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!”

At around 8 years old, Poppy has learned a thing or two about life — including the fact that affection is wonderful… as long as it's her idea.

Poppy is a charming, independent lady who enjoys attention but doesn't appreciate being fussed over or forced into it. Don't pick her up and plop her in your lap expecting an instant cuddle session. That's simply not how Poppy operates.

Instead, give her a little time. Sit quietly. Let her get to know you. And before long, you may look down and realize that Poppy has quietly snuck into your lap all on her own. That's when you know you've been chosen.

Poppy would thrive in a quiet, slower-paced home with someone who understands that some of the best relationships aren't rushed. She's looking for a person who will give her space when she wants it, attention when she asks for it, and a comfortable lap that's always available when she decides it's time.

Dwight is a 1.5-year-old man cat with swagger, s***k, and just the right amount of attitude. This handsome hunk isn't here to be your snuggle buddy — he's got an image to maintain.

At 1.5 years old, Dwight knows exactly who he is. He'll strut his stuff like he owns the place, supervise whatever you're doing, and make sure everyone knows there's a very important cat in the room.

Want to play? Dwight will gladly humor you with a good game of batting around a toy. Want to scoop him up and smother him with kisses? Let's not get carried away. Dwight prefers affection on his terms, thank you very much.

He's independent, entertaining, confident, and packed with personality. Dwight isn't looking for someone to carry him around like a baby. He's looking for someone who appreciates a cat with a little sass, respects his boundaries, and understands that sometimes the best relationships are built on mutual admiration from a respectable distance.

If you've always wanted a big, handsome man cat who struts instead of snuggles, Dwight may just be your guy.

Meet Joleen, Joleen, Joleen joooleen🎶 (did you sing it too?) well Joleen is a wildling and not wiling to give up her wild ways. She is looking for a barn to hang out in and provide rodent control in exchange for fresh water, yummy kibble and a warm bed of straw. She will be ready to start her job next week so get your barn cats application in now and reserve her for your property.

Naya is ready for adoption and looking for a home. She raised her kitten, protecting her until she could do life on her own. Now it’s mom’s turn to be loved spoiled and protected. She is a wonderful young lady just waiting to be scooped up and taken to her furever home.

Kip is Gracie’s 6-month-old littermate, and apparently being ridiculously affectionate runs in the family. This handsome little guy is friendly, cuddly, and perfectly happy being scooped up and held. But Kip has another favorite form of affection: the face smoosh.

Smoosh his little cheeks, rub his face, pull him in close for kisses — Kip is HERE FOR IT. He’s the kind of kitten who doesn’t just tolerate your affection, he actively signs up for more. Kip is sweet, social, loving and ready for a family that appreciates a kitten who believes there is simply no such thing as too much attention.

Blackford County Animal Shelter is heading to PetSmart for an adoption event, and we’re bringing some pretty amazing cats and dogs who are ready to find their families!

Our adoptable cats will be hanging out at PetSmart all week, hoping the right person walks by and falls in love.

🐶 DOGS JOIN THE FUN

BCAS will be bringing adoptable dogs to PetSmart for the weekend! Come meet them in person, spend a little time together, and see if one of them just happens to be your perfect match.

Blake is now available for adoption. this young, handsome guy is currently around 1 year old and he is 40lbs. We have him listed as a Dane/Hound mix but he is pretty petite. He will fill out more over the next year. We are still learning about Blake. He will be cat tested and dog tested over the weekend. He is a very happy and fun guy. at 6 months old, Kara is an adorable little black beauty with two speeds: snuggle and ZOOM. Kara absolutely loves attention and is perfectly happy being scooped up and cuddled. She’ll soak up the love, enjoy being held and convince you she might just stay there awhile...

Don’t fall for it.

Because there’s a very good chance Kara suddenly remembers that she is, in fact, a kitten — and kittens have IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO. Toys to chase. Things to investigate. Rooms to race through. Half your camera roll may be Kara, and the other half may be a mysterious black blur leaving the frame.
