A LETTER FROM THE SCOUTMASTER
Dear Scouts, Parents, and Associates,
Welcome to Troop #380, and congratulations on becoming an active member in one of world’s largest youth organizations. As you allow yourself to grow into becoming a true Scout, you will have the opportunity to learn many new things and become a part of this world brotherhood. In Scouting, you have the opportunity and the allowanc
e to set your own goals, at your own pace. The main goal of a real Scout in Boy Scouts would be to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. The rank of Eagle Scout is Scouting’s highest progress award offered to Scouts. Throughout your days as a Scout, your adult leaders, as well as your brother Scouts, and parents, will be available to help you meet your goals when you need it, and to help, to the best of their abilities, with any problems that you might happen to have. Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help, because in Scouting we are all friends, and friends help friends. We want to see every Scout succeed as well as have fun. I am sure that you have many questions about Scouting and about our Scout Troop. I believe that most of your questions will be answered after you read this guidebook. Your Scout Handbook is another great source for information. In fact, your handbook will be your main source for information and personal record keeping so it will be important for you to get to know your handbook and use it. Here’s another thing to always keep in mind. All of the adult leaders in your Scout Troop, whether they are Scoutmasters, or Committee members, are all volunteers that believe in the values of Scouting and have agreed to spend their valuable free time and personal capital in order for you to have Scouting. It will be your duty and honor as a Scout, and as a gentleman; to show respect to these people at all times. There is probably at least two ways to best show this respect, the first way is obviously to be courteous when speaking to them, and secondly, is to actively participate as much as possible. Remember; if you have questions, or if you have problems you wish to discuss feel free to call a leader. That is why we are here. And again, welcome to Scouting. Yours in Scouting,
Todd Stephenson, Scoutmaster of Troop #380
