The Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition is a volunteer, working task force comprised of individuals who are interested in substance use prevention issues in the Burrillville communities. PSA Traffic Alert -TOMORROW-May 29th, 2026 🚨

On Friday, May 29th, the Northern RI Law Enforcement Torch Run (Glocester Leg) will kick off at approximately 10:00AM from the Chepachet Fire Department parking lot. Members of the Glocester Police Department, joined by members of the Burrillville Police Department, teachers and students of the Ponaganset High and Middle Schools, will run the northern leg eastbound on Putnam Pike to the Smithfield town line at Powder Mill Creamery, where the torch will be passed off to runners of the Smithfield contingency.

Traffic will be SLOW going eastbound on Putnam Pike while the runners make their way to the Smithfield town line. Expect delays!
Please use caution while traveling Putnam Pike eastbound or seek an alternate route between 10:00AM and 12:00PM.

Torch run legs begin in Woonsocket, Burrillville/Glocester, East Providence, Providence, and Westerly/South County.

The Torch Run concludes at the University of RI at the Special Olympics Rhode Island State Summer Games Opening Ceremonies.

Please feel free to cheer the runners along the way!

Today, May 15, 2026, we remember the Officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. May their heroic actions never be forgotten.

The men and women of the Burrillville Police would like to recognize (2) Officers lost closest to home, who both made a profound impact in nearby communities.
