Harrisville Fireworks Fund

Harrisville Fireworks Fund Harrisville Fireworks Fund is a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to keeping the 50+ year 4th of July fireworks celebration alive and well.

A fantastic family event enjoyed by thousands every year. Attending Fourth of July Fireworks in the quaint city of Harrisville has been a popular family tradition for many decades. Fireworks came to Harrisville sometime in the early to mid 1970’s and for several years were shot off at the recreation area at the end of Lake Street. Richard Sella first helped discharge the fireworks with John Pridni

a Jr. and a group of men in July of 1975. The group was dedicated and growing. However, there was a lull in funding and after a couple of years without a show, the Huron Shores Chamber of Commerce paid for the fireworks and moved their site to Harrisville Harbor. In 1983 funding was no longer available from the Chamber. That’s when Carol Sella of Richard’s Pharmacy thought of sending a few letters to ask local businesses and friends for their help. Alas, in 1984 Harrisville enjoyed fireworks once again and the tradition was born. The first display cost a little less than $1500 and 38 donations were made. Carol annually handled advertising and publicity for donations and all record keeping. The Sella’s tandem efforts were often joked about; Richard liked to say, “that was the only time in our marriage where she raised the money and I burned it up.”

The fireworks that are so dear to our hearts are now possible thanks to the 150+ donors that are both local and spread out throughout the USA. Each spring, almost 400 letters are sent to solicit funds. Without fail, our community shows their support by making this happen. In addition to the traditional fundraiser we have added our Annual Fun Run and Snowmobile Show to ensure bigger and better shows each year. Thank you for your contributions over the years! Our show is ALWAYS on the first Saturday of July.

What a fantastic 2026 Fun Run - sooooo many people and so much laughter! We’d like to again thank all of the sponsors for their donations for the raffle. Thanks to the John Bernard trail crew and many private individuals who helped clear the trails prior to our run. For all of the volunteers that worked the challenges - we couldn’t do it without you! George - thank you for getting our tables and chairs. Jon Klukowski from 45 North Real Estate ROCKED the auction with his side crew. And of course Dan provided entertainment! 😂 BC Bar graciously provided our end stop and hustled their butts off. Every stop/bar did a great job moving people through! I’m sure I’ve forgotten some - please know it wasn’t intentional.

186 riders/80 vehicles! Thank you so much to everyone that participated in the run/auction. Our fireworks show is gonna be off the charts! 🎇 Save the date, Saturday, July 4th, 2026. 🎇 Over $7,600 for Harrisville and over $7,600 for Barton City fireworks!

Don’t forget to get registered! Over 100 people and 49 vehicles so far - we are so excited for Saturday! Weather looks great and our local groups are working hard to get those trails cleared!

🎁 We are still accepting donations for our live auction with Jon Klukowski of 45 North Realty - this is the most profitable part of our fundraiser. I can pick up or donations (message me) or they can be dropped off at BC Bar. Please consider throwing together a basket or possibly giving a gift certificate. 🎁

Well that’s a wrap! Over 300 walk throughs on Friday and over 750 on Saturday. The trick or treating and haunted trail were a huge success! Thank you to all for volunteering - especially Raleigh Potts and Melissa Walker for everything you did to make this happen! And my Zygmund - our chainsaw master - couldn’t have done it without you! Dawson, Colin and Ashton were always ready to help in a heartbeat. Phil, Kirk and Jimmy rocked it too! Several more that I don’t have names for. It takes a community! More than 20 volunteered each scare night. Our local businesses Shotmakers, Northland Area Credit Union, Harrisvile Arts Council, WxTF, Country Cone/Momentos, The Lincoln Market - thank you so much for the Trick or Treating tables; much appreciated! Unfortunately no pics from me; I was buuuusy!
