Kansas City Hedgehog Rescue

Kansas City Hedgehog Rescue I am a Rescue Station for the Hedgehog Welfare Society, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charity dedicated to the health and and well-being of hedgehogs.

The Hedgehog Welfare Society (HWS) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charity dedicated to the health and well-being of hedgehogs through rescue, education and research. Through the group's approved rescue stations, they take in hedgehogs in need, nurse them back to good health if necessary, and place them in approved homes. Through the educational programs, they help guardians provide a happy, safe envi

ronment for their hedgehogs. Sometimes finding a new, responsible, loving forever home for your quilly companion is inevitable. Children can lose interest. Sometimes a family no longer has the time. Perhaps a move into an illegal state and you just want to keep your hedgehog safe. Or maybe your hedgehog is sick and you want to find someone better suited to care for the illness. The HWS can help make this a little easier by helping you to find the perfect home. As as Rescue Facility, I provide care and sometimes medical attention for relinquished hedgehogs. To relinquish a hedgehog, you must first fill out the relinquishment form for the Hedgehog Welfare Society. http://www.hedgehogwelfare.org/relinquishment.asp

So life took a few sharp turns the last few months. There was a bad chronic illness and then a family emergency, and unfortunately setting up hedgies for adoption fell to the wayside for a little bit. But we are back on track with three adorable quillbabies ready for their furever homes!
We have Padillo, a big grump of a boy who is about two years old. He loves to snuggle quietly in a snuggle sack though, and is one of the best eaters I've ever had!
Then there's Winnifred, our old lady in residence. She's 4 years old and a fesity little monster! She's not much for snuggles, but she darts in and out of a bag with all the zoomies and makes me laugh so much! For all her crazy huffs she rarely raises her quills, preffering to pop and keek.
Finally, Henrietta, the adorable tripod. She lost a leg in an accident at her old home, but she doesn't let that get her down. She prefers a large flat cage that she can tunnel and push toys around to having a wheel, unlike other hedgies. I'm not sure she can get in one very well with her leg, but she can sure tear up a tube!
Pictures coming soon!
