Today, I had the opportunity to meet an incredible volunteer at Our Lady of Hope School in Westport. It’s taken me all day to share this post. I was truly moved beyond words for more reasons than I am able to share in one social media post. A couple weeks ago I felt like something physically stopped me. It got my attention and reminded me “that’s it’s not about me” “Living with anxiety, depression or just the overwhelming sadness is like being followed by a voice. It knows all my insecurities and uses them against me. It gets to the point when it’s the loudest voice in the room. The only one that I can hear.” But, as long as I am breathing, there is more right with me than wrong. I will continue to persevere. I just miss Blair! The places and opportunities to make a difference are out there and need me. They need you! They need us! If it is a pair of socks, a tote or truck full. I am grateful for a purpose that makes a difference. Thank YOU, for the patience as life changes and for your continued love and support.

Today and everyday we honor Blair and her Gift of Life of 6 organs to 5 people. Observed every year on February 14th, National Donor Day is an observance dedicated to spreading awareness and education about organ, eye and tissue donation. By educating and sharing the Donate Life message, we can each take small steps every day to help save and heal more lives, and honor the donor’s legacy of generosity and compassion. National Donor Day is a time to focus on all types of donation—organ, eye, tissue, blood, platelets and marrow. Join us by participating in local events, sharing social media messages and encouraging others to register as donors.

National Donor Day is also a day to recognize those who have given and received the gift of life through organ, eye and tissue donation, are currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant, and those who died waiting because an organ was not donated in time.

Earlier this week we stopped by Raytown High School and visited with Special Education Teacher Madison Slocum. We were able to learn more about L.I.F.E University. It is a transition program that provides opportunities to prepare 18–21-year-old students who have completed their high school academic requirements and are staying in school for additional instruction in the skills necessary for a successful transition to adult life. We left a much needed donation of SOCKS!

There is a house that is owned by Raytown high school at 10508 E. 60th Terrace. It is in the neighborhood behind Raytown high. There is an outdoor bin where you are able to leave new and gently used clothing. They are currently excepting donations!
