Cinderella Project of the Shenandoah Valley Cinderella Project of the Shenandoah Valley started in 2004, in a corner of the local Salvation Army. That's where we come in.

A 501c3 charitable project that helps those in need celebrating high school or middle school graduation attend their prom/dance/event with free, appropriate attire and accessories. All it took was one news article about how expensive prom was, to get the wheels turning. What happens to the kids whose family have come upon unfortunate circumstances? Prom is expensive, but what about the girls who d

ream about her sparkly ball gown or the guys who want their tuxedos? Why should these kids, whatever their reason is, have to sacrifice the experience of picking a pretty formal dress, dress, shoes and jewelry or suits, ties and shoes? Our goal is to create an experience for kids who would not be able to go to prom due to the cost. We are a completely non-profit group who takes donations of anything formal related for both girls and guys, but we take it one step further. We also offer them toiletries, hair & makeup tips, and shorter dresses & ties for graduation. Here in 2022, we have a retail space at the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg va with spaces for departments (clothing, shoes, make-up etc.) Each client is assigned their own stylist to help with the process. We take donations at various locations and at our retail space at the Valley Mall. Monetary donations help us have funds to purchase new items not donated. Please help us achieve the meaningful Cinderella moments that help our clients believe and achieve their dreams. We serve students throughout the Shenandoah Valley. The Cinderella Project of the Shenandoah Valley was honored to attend the 2026 Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge’s grant awardee ceremony.

As a recipient of a three-year grant, we were honored to be recognized for our work in the community to outfit teens in need for prom and homecoming head to toe absolutely free.

The Community Foundation’s work empowers and supports so many carrying nonprofits in our area.

Fashion Friday will be NEXT FRIDAY... NOT TODAY! For the last 3 years our charity has expanded our mission to offer fashion for clients who are not students (although students are welcome too).

If you are blessed to find the perfect fashion for your event, we ask for a donation to our charity for it.

Usually that is on the first Friday of the month. But that is not possible today. Hope to see you next Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. in the Valley Mall.

Only with caring businesses in the community can Cinderella Project do what we do.

I would like to thank my dentist Dr. Demir at Companion Dental Care in Staunton for caring enough about the Cinderella project and the students that need it to provide over 100 dental hygiene kits for our clients.

They will become part of a girls or boys blessing bag that includes soap, shampoo, conditioner, and other grooming aides for the students that visit our shop and are from families in 100% of poverty. Each kit represents about a $15 investment.

Companion Dental Care in Staunton, Virginia, is a general dentistry practice led by Dr. Demir Tulunoglu, offering personalized, relationship-focused care for all ages, including preventive, cosmetic, restorative, and implant dentistry.
