Vine & Fig / NCP Harrisonburg

Vine & Fig / NCP Harrisonburg Cultivating and celebrating works of compassion, social justice, and ecological health to build a society in which it's easier to be good.

New Community Project's Vine and Fig envisions a renewed Shenandoah Valley with abundance and enough for all through permaculture and food justice, hospitality and education, community organizing and contemplative action. We are an education and demonstration center for sustainable and just living; a supportive home welcoming friends experiencing homelessness and addictions and refugees from war;

and a project incubator to hatch works of justice, peace, and regeneration in our community, the Valley, and beyond.

Jeremiah, the white house beloved cat, passed away yesterday. We all will remember his presence at Vine & Fig over the past 9 years and how he loved to bask in the sun. Goodbye Jeremiah.🐱

Greetings,

Harrisonburg's Climate Emergency Choir with the 50 by 25 Renewable Energy Campaign, and Climate Action Alliance of the Valley are partnering with People vs. Fossil Fuels for a public peaceful action at Court Square in downtown Harrisonburg, Tuesday August 2nd.

The coalition of over 1,200 groups is calling on President Biden to declare a climate emergency and stop the federal approval of all new fossil fuel projects.

Here is what declaring a climate emergency may allow President Biden to do!https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/programs/energy-justice/pdfs/Climate-Emergency-Powers-Report.pdf

Please join us in this national action taking place from Alaska to Florida, California to New York, and many points in between. Please stand, reflect, and sing with us as we call Biden to take immediate action.

When: Tuesday, August 2nd at 5:30 pm
Where: Court Square, (South East corner) Harrisonburg, VA

This is a critical moment in history. A time to join our hearts, voices, and spirits together to ensure a just and sustainable future for all.

For more information, see https://peoplevsfossilfuels.org.

Attached below are some graphics tied to the National Day of Action that can be shared on social media and with friends!

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Last November, several people stopped by Vine & Fig for a visit-- a visit that turned into something more beautiful as time has passed. That "Persimmon Day" was photographed by Alex Cornwell. Persimmon sketch by Tom Benevento. Persimmon bread made by Kathy Yoder. More to come on how we continue to get to know each other better!
