What a day in Harrisonburg! We hit the ground running this morning with some great workshops on literacy, grants, and how to tell our club stories better.

The afternoon at the Atlantic Union Bank Center really hit home, especially hearing from Ramesh Ferris and Nobel Prize winner David Beasley. It’s one thing to talk about service, but hearing these stories in person puts everything into perspective.

We wrapped things up with an ice cream social in the Rotary Village and now everyone is heading downtown to grab dinner and catch up.

Here are a few shots from today!

Helping others is often one of the best ways to help ourselves. After a high-intensity work week, it is easy to feel mentally drained. Many of lead incredibly busy lives, and finding a way to defragment and reset is essential for our well-being. Getting outside, moving physically, and doing something as simple as picking up trash along a local greenway provides the mental clarity needed to recharge and find balance.

Rotary is frequently misunderstood as just a business club for networking, but it is truly about the heart of service. It is a community of people who want to do good, where you can build lifelong friendships that have nothing to do with what you do for a living and everything to do with the impact you make together. Engaging in these small acts of service in our own backyards, like we saw with the Rotary Club of Salem, Virginia presence today at Clean Valley Day, is a powerful reminder that every little bit matters for our community and our own mental health.

Rotary International has officially confirmed that the 2027 International Convention will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from June 26 through 30, 2027. This gathering will take place at the Fira de Barcelona, bringing our global community together to celebrate service and fellowship.

Barcelona is a city that mirrors the spirit of our organization through its international outlook and history of welcoming diverse cultures. Often described as a mini-United Nations, it provides a setting that aligns with humanitarian values and social progress. This ensures a welcoming environment for every member of our global family.

Attendees will experience a unique blend of history and innovation. The city is famous for the works of Antoni Gaudí, including the breathtaking La Sagrada Família and the colorful mosaics of Park Güell. The Gothic Quarter offers a journey through centuries of history, with medieval streets and Roman foundations that provide a space for connection and discovery. From the lively atmosphere of La Rambla to the historic flavors of the La Boqueria market, the city offers an immersive experience in Mediterranean culture.

This convention marks a return to a city with a proud history of supporting our mission. Registration is scheduled to open in September 2026. Please stay tuned for more details on how to join this landmark event in one of the most culturally rich cities in the world.

Rotary District 7570 is proud to see young leaders in our community taking the time to honor those who have served.

Students recently gathered to express their gratitude to local veterans through a heartfelt tribute that reminds us all of the importance of service and sacrifice.

This display of community spirit aligns with the commitment to youth engagement and peacebuilding that we value throughout our district. Please take a moment to read more about this event and join us in thanking our veterans for their dedication and bravery.
