More than 23,000 students applied for a 2026 Most Valuable Student scholarship. National judging recently concluded and we wanted to make sure you were among the first to hear the good news.

Virginia Natale sponsored by Harrisonburg Lodge No. 450 has advanced through all levels of judging and is officially one of the Top 20 MVS Finalists!

This means that Virginia will receive a scholarship of $30,000 from the Elks National Foundation and attend the 2026 Leadership Weekend April 30-May 3 in Chicago!

Our largest charity project of the year is only a day away. Though work has been going on behind the scenes for months, now is the time for everyone to pitch in.

Friday morning around 10a we’ll meet to bag apples. Then at 7p we’ll gather to pack the non-perishable goods. Bring your family and friends. It’s a great time to bring a prospective member too. There will be refreshments and a social time following box packing.

Saturday at 7a we’ll have a hearty breakfast. Then we’ll add the perishable items to the boxes and off they’ll go. We need delivery drivers for both city and county routes. Please plan to help. Toy donations to add to the boxes are always welcome.

Come back to the lodge after your route for refreshments. Then at 11a lunch will be served.

Almost 100 years ago, following the completion of the Elks National Memorial, then-National President John F. Malley dreamt of building “a more stately mansion...with a dome so vast that it will cover the entire nation.” However, this mansion was not constructed of bricks and mortar—it was an idea.

Malley envisioned a “mighty army for the service of mankind” who would “extend help freely and perform their deeds with a pleasant smile.”

The Elks National Foundation is the realization of Malley’s dream.

American Essay Contest

The theme this year is "What does service to your country mean to you?" The contest is geared to 5th through 8th grade.
Prizes are:
1st place: $1000
2nd place: $500
3rd place: $250

This year our lodge participated in three Naturalization Ceremonies at the Federal Court House in Harrisonburg. Our lodge members welcomed new citizens and present each citizen with an American flag. Thank you lodge members!!
