We would love to give a warm Struggle Bus welcome to Alexis Ward Owens, our new Executive Director here at The Struggle Bus! Learn more about Alexis below or in our website! We are so excited to have her on our team and look forward to all of the ways she will help us grow!
Alexis Ward Owens is our Executive Director here at The Struggle Bus. After coming onto the team in January 2024, serves as a coach and advisor to all involved in the Struggle Bus mission. She is highly knowledgeable in everything 501c3 related and works to bring a level of organized focus alongside of all of the joyous play at The Struggle Bus. Alexis is never without a to-do list and we love that about her! Alexis grew up all over the United States as a part of a military family (Go Navy!) but landed at James Madison University for undergrad where she met her husband, Seth, and settled in the Shenandoah Valley where they still live today with their 2 adopted fur babies Chewbacca and Han Solo. Previously, she worked full time as the Assistant General Manager at Klines Dairy Bar until transitioning into full time ministry with RISE Faith Community as the Campus Minister. Alexis is passionate about reading, working out, and eating all the food! As Julia Child said, “people who love to eat are always the best people.” Alexis believes that in a world that tells us all what we SHOULD do, play is an opportunity to remember that sometimes we need to experience things for the sake of experience and joy, rather than productivity. Alexis’ earliest memory of play was imaginary storytelling on the trampoline with her younger brother. She firmly believes that if dogs ruled the world, it would be a much kinder place to exist. We are so grateful for Alexis’ presence on our team and she is the perfect addition to The Struggle Bus!
