Some of our members may or may not be helping with the Apple Pie baking contest 😉 and we need more pies to judge! So if you or someone you know makes “the best” apple pie, send them on down to prove it!

Thank you, Olena Cooper from Boone County Masters Gardeners for coming and speaking to our club this week! Last year, the Boone County Masters Gardeners spent over 1,935 volunteer hours improving our community. Not only do they maintain the beautiful hanging baskets and gardens downtown, they also have a pollinator garden at the Extension Office, an experimental bed, and offer community education for children and adults, including free workshops at the library. Olena also announced that the Boone County Master Gardeners are planning on having a fall plant sale this year.

🍅 The July Garden Guide is out! 🍅

Some produce you can plant this month include: basil, Irish potatoes, tomatoes, southern peas, sweet corn, cucumbers, pumpkins, summer squash, winter squash, pak choi, bok choi, cabbage, and collards.

Some flowers you can plant this month include: daisies, sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, black-eyed susans, coneflowers, lantana, pentas, gomphrena, and moss rose.
