New Master Gardener Class starting soon!

Are you interested in learning more about plants and gardening, and in turn use your education to educate and serve our community through volunteerism?
🌻 Consider becoming a Boone County Master Gardener through one of our Fall 2026 training opportunities.
📍Option One: Zoom training offered by University of Arkansas Extension Specialists will be held in Harrison at the Boone County Extention office and will consist of five Wednesdays:
October 21,
October 28,
November 4,
November 11,
November 18;
all sessions will be from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Cost is $125 which includes 40 hours of education, training resource books, and Arkansas Master Gardener nametag.

💻 Option Two: Self-guided online training will begin on October 6 and ends December 11. You will need a computer to take this class; a tablet or mobile device won’t suffice. Cost is $150 which includes 40 hours of training, your resource books, and nametag.

✍️ If you are interested in applying, stop by the Boone County Extention office, 1800 Extension Lane for an application.
⏳ Deadline to apply is September 21st, 2026. If you have questions, please call the county extension office at 870-741-6168

We can’t wait to see you all for our fall plant sale, but first we need your help!

Some of our members may or may not be helping with the Apple Pie baking contest 😉 and we need more pies to judge! So if you or someone you know makes “the best” apple pie, send them on down to prove it!

Thank you, Olena Cooper from Boone County Masters Gardeners for coming and speaking to our club this week! Last year, the Boone County Masters Gardeners spent over 1,935 volunteer hours improving our community. Not only do they maintain the beautiful hanging baskets and gardens downtown, they also have a pollinator garden at the Extension Office, an experimental bed, and offer community education for children and adults, including free workshops at the library. Olena also announced that the Boone County Master Gardeners are planning on having a fall plant sale this year.

🍅 The July Garden Guide is out! 🍅

Some produce you can plant this month include: basil, Irish potatoes, tomatoes, southern peas, sweet corn, cucumbers, pumpkins, summer squash, winter squash, pak choi, bok choi, cabbage, and collards.

Some flowers you can plant this month include: daisies, sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, black-eyed susans, coneflowers, lantana, pentas, gomphrena, and moss rose.
