π‘ National Homeownership Month π‘
Let's talk about something that keeps many homeowners awake at night...
The refrigerator stops cooling.
The air conditioner quits during a summer heat wave.
The water heater starts leaking.
The dryer won't turn on.
The roof starts leaking after a storm.
Homeownership is rewarding, but sometimes it comes with unexpected repairs and replacement costs that can create stress for even the most prepared families.
That's why having an emergency fund is so important.
Even setting aside a small amount each month can help prepare for those unexpected expenses that seem to happen at the worst possible time.
The good news? Resources may be available to help.
For eligible homeowners, the USDA Rural Development Section 504 Home Repair Program may provide loans and grants to assist with certain home repairs and improvements. This program is designed to help homeowners maintain safe and livable housing.
Our office can assist eligible homeowners with the USDA 504 application process and help determine if this program may be a good fit for their needs.
And if you're not sure where to start with saving for emergencies, our HUD Certified Housing Counselor can help you develop a realistic spending plan and create a strategy for building an emergency fund over time.
Remember, homeownership isn't about avoiding every challengeβit's about having a plan when challenges arise.
Tomorrow we'll discuss a simple goal that every homeowner should consider: building a $1,000 emergency fund and practical steps to get started.
If you have questions about home repairs, budgeting, or available housing resources, we're here to help.
