Home buyer selection is based on 3 core criteria:
-Need for decent, affordable housing.
-Ability to pay an affordable mortgage obtained through a financial institution or land contract.
-Willingness to partner with Habitat, including sweat equity & program participation.

Since you will actually be purchasing your home from Clare County Habitat for Humanity through a financial institution or land contract, you must demonstrate your ability to pay the monthly mortgage and insurance payments in addition to all applicable taxes. The percentage of your monthly income that is spent on housing is considered to determine your need and we will help you to determine whether or not this payment will jeopardize your ability to meet all of your other financial obligations and expenses. If you are struggling to meet these requirements, Habitat provides credit counseling education to get you on the right track to becoming a future successful homeowner.

Please remember that Clare County Habitat for Humanity is a hand up, not a hand out!

Please join us in congratulating our 2026 Clare County Habitat for Humanity scholarship winner, Kyley Wyman!!!! 🌟📣

A senior at Clare High School, Kyley truly does it all! A member of the National Honor Society, she works hard to maintain a 4.0 grade point average while also representing her school on the softball, volleyball, and basketball courts. 🏀 🥎 🏐

Beyond her impressive academic and athletic achievements, Kyley has a huge heart for the community. She actively volunteers her time for the Made for More Initiative, a local nonprofit organization designed to help uplift women through leadership, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. 💜

This fall, Kyley will take her talents to Central Michigan University to study biochemistry on a pre-dental track with the goal of becoming an orthodontist.🦷🔬
