There’s still time to nominate a deserving high school cross country athlete for the Derek Dexter Foundation Shoe Scholarship.

Recipients receive a professional fitting and up to $150 toward a pair of name-brand running shoes.

Coaches and athletic directors can submit a letter of recommendation to:

Know a high school runner who could use a new pair of running shoes?

The Derek Dexter Foundation is accepting applications for our Shoe Scholarship for student-athletes in grades 9–12.

Selected athletes will receive:
👟 A professional fitting at a local running shop
💙 Properly fitted shoes with health and support in mind
💰 Up to $150 toward a pair of running shoes, paid directly to the store

Each school may submit one student-athlete for consideration.

To apply, a coach or athletic director should email a letter of recommendation explaining why the student is most deserving of the scholarship to:

Our goal is simple: remove one barrier so a young runner can train with proper, healthy footwear.

Michigan brought the heat this week, so our race committee brought the summer running tips!

Hot runs build strong runners, but runners have to stay smart when temperatures rise. Hydrate early, slow the pace, dress light, and listen to your body.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, coaches, mentors, and father figures who encourage us to go farther, both on and off the course. 💙🏃‍♂️

Today we celebrate the men who set the alarm for early runs, make time for family and fitness, offer support when the miles get tough, and lead by example through hard work, resilience, and determination. Whether you're chasing a personal best, cheering from the sidelines, volunteering on race day, or inspiring the next generation to lace up their shoes, your impact reaches far beyond the finish line.
