Hey Chief Slip-n-Snyder,
Explain this slow-motion disaster: you had a registered s*x offender, on Megan’s Law, with a juvenile right next to him. Instead of securing him, you left him in the driver’s seat with access to the ignition. He lied about his age, you knew who he was, and you still let him turn the key and flee. That’s not “split-second decision making.” That’s dereliction of duty.
Then you green-lit a high-speed pursuit through neighborhoods that ended with a civilian vehicle smashed. And you parade this as “good police work”? Stop insulting everyone’s intelligence.
Your department has forced officers out, citing “pursuit policy violations.” You destroyed careers under that excuse. Now, when it’s your own mess, pursuit suddenly becomes heroic? When civilians get hit, that’s just “fluid”? The hypocrisy stinks.
If you’re so proud, prove it. Release the body cam footage, concealing her identity, of course, but show the public what really happened. Let people see whether this was “heroic policing” or sheer incompetence with lights and sirens. Release the pursuit policy, too, so we can all see if your officers violated the same rules you’ve used to ruin others.
You don’t get to hide behind long-winded PR statements. You endangered a kid, endangered the public, and endangered your own credibility. The community deserves receipts, not fairy tales. Until then, this looks less like law enforcement and more like a department that changes the rules when it benefits them.

News Release - Incident at Sunset Lane
August 11, 2025
West Manchester Township Police Department responded to a call at Sunset Lane Park on Saturday August 9th 2025 6:31 pm where a juvenile female was interacting with an adult male and a citizen alerted our officers out of concern for the juvenile. The citizen said that the juvenile female was trying to push the male away and it appeared she was being coerced or forced by the older male. Our officers responded and located the subjects. The adult male, 32 year old Alvin James, who was sitting inside a motor vehicle and the juvenile female were near Brenda Lane. James told officers he was 17 years old when they questioned him. James is currently on Megan’s Law list from Maryland. As the officers were conducting their investigation and gathering information, James used a spare car key and turned his vehicle on and fled the scene. Our officers attempted to stop the vehicle where James led officers on a high speed pursuit from Sunset Lane to Carlisle Road southbound and struck a citizen vehicle north of Loucks Road. James fled on foot from the crash. Officers engaged in the pursuit then attempted to apprehend the suspect on foot. James ran into residential neighborhoods and was pursued by officers who established a perimeter and with the assistance of several agencies and officers located James on South Emerald Avenue. Members of the public alerted officers to James’ location several times throughout the incident which aided in our apprehension of this suspect. Also, the citizen that alerted our officers is a hero in my opinion. When people see things that are concerning, they should contact the police and in this case that is exactly what happened. Kudos to that citizen for having the fortitude to come forward and do the right thing. Thank you.
Situations like the one that these officers engaged in during this incident are fluid and they are making split second decisions that are life changing in some instances. In this case, they identified that the male in this situation was a danger to the juvenile. They attempted to apprehend him after establishing probably cause to detain him. After the pursuit and crash occurred, officers were tasked with establishing a perimeter to apprehend a suspect that fled from a crash scene and fled from police. The foot chase and perimeter lasted approximately 81 minutes and with the help of several other police departments and the York County Sheriff’s Office we successfully located the suspect. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the agencies that assisted us on Saturday evening. Also, to the citizens that called in sightings and alerted officers, thank you.
This incident is still under investigation and our detectives and officers are working on getting to the facts and evidence necessary to ensure justice is served. I want to remind parents and loved ones of teenagers that they should be diligent and aware that social media can be a dangerous place for our kids. Please speak to them about these dangers and remind them to be aware that they do not know who they are communicating with when people contact them on platforms via social media. Stranger danger is still a thing whether it’s in a van on the street or on the internet.
