🚒 Fire Prevention Starts Young!🧯

Today, some of our members had the opportunity to visit a local church daycare to spend time with their amazing kiddos and teach them about fire prevention and safety.

The children learned important lessons like what to do if they see smoke or fire, how firefighters help keep our communities safe, and why it's important to listen to trusted adults during an emergency. We also had a great time answering questions and letting the kids get an up-close look at our fire gear and equipment.

A big thank you to the church and daycare staff for inviting us to spend part of our day with your little ones and a huge thank you to Burnham Fire Department for bringing their ladder truck. We always enjoy helping educate the next generation on the importance of fire safety!

🔥 Training Day 🔥

Today, our members and officers, along with our mutual aid partners from Chief Logan Volunteer Fire Department and Burnham Fire Department participated in live burn evolutions.

Training like this provides valuable hands-on experience in realistic fire conditions, allowing firefighters to sharpen their skills, improve teamwork, and strengthen communication in a controlled environment. Opportunities like these help ensure we are prepared to serve and protect our community when the call comes.

Thank you to everyone who took part and to our mutual aid partners for another great day of training. Stay safe!

Today at 9:11 AM, Company 3 was dispatched along with mutual aid companies Burnham Fire Company, Reedsville Fire Company, and Chief Logan Fire Department for a reported commercial building fire.

Upon arrival, crews investigated a strong odor of gas reported on the third floor of the building. Engine 3's crew advanced to the third floor equipped with SCBA, thermal imaging cameras, gas meters, and a high-rise hose pack. They then proceeded to the roof to inspect the rooftop HVAC units.

Engine 42-1's crew also responded to the third floor with their equipment and assisted with the investigation. No gas leak or fire conditions were found inside the building.

Truck 1 accessed the roof and used tools to open and inspect the rooftop HVAC units. During the investigation, crews discovered that two belts on a rooftop unit had burned off, causing the odor that had spread throughout the building.
Engine 42-2 secured a hydrant and staged personnel in the event a water supply was needed. Engine 6 also staged and brought additional manpower forward, remaining available if needed.

Facility management was advised to contact an HVAC repair company to service the damaged unit.

All units were subsequently cleared from the scene.

Thank you to all personnel who responded and worked together to quickly identify the issue and ensure the safety of the building's occupants.

Job well done! 👏
