Today at 9:11 AM, Company 3 was dispatched along with mutual aid companies Burnham Fire Company, Reedsville Fire Company, and Chief Logan Fire Department for a reported commercial building fire.

Upon arrival, crews investigated a strong odor of gas reported on the third floor of the building. Engine 3's crew advanced to the third floor equipped with SCBA, thermal imaging cameras, gas meters, and a high-rise hose pack. They then proceeded to the roof to inspect the rooftop HVAC units.

Engine 42-1's crew also responded to the third floor with their equipment and assisted with the investigation. No gas leak or fire conditions were found inside the building.

Truck 1 accessed the roof and used tools to open and inspect the rooftop HVAC units. During the investigation, crews discovered that two belts on a rooftop unit had burned off, causing the odor that had spread throughout the building.
Engine 42-2 secured a hydrant and staged personnel in the event a water supply was needed. Engine 6 also staged and brought additional manpower forward, remaining available if needed.

Facility management was advised to contact an HVAC repair company to service the damaged unit.

All units were subsequently cleared from the scene.

Derry Township Supervisor, Joe Ugeto, made the very first hoagie in the store! How exciting!

Tomorrow morning, we’ll be taking on the police in a Hoagies for Heroes hoagie-making contest!
