The Pennsylvania Association of Area Agencies on Aging (P4A) is a statewide, nonprofit association representing the best interests of Pennsylvania’s 52 Area Agencies on Aging (AAA's). P4A’s primary role is to support its members’ ability to serve and improve older Pennsylvanians’ lives and provide services by which they can live with dignity in their homes and communities for as long as possible.
P4A accomplishes this by:
IMPROVING the capacity of its members to better serve and represent older persons and their caregivers through education, training, and technical assistance. FACILITATING cooperative relationships among the aging network, other public agencies, and private sector organizations to develop an accessible and comprehensive system of services. PROMOTING effective communication between government bodies, agencies, providers, and other human services coalitions. Since 2008, P4A has managed and administered the Pennsylvania Aging Network Training Institute (formerly Long-Term Learning Training Institute), a collaborative effort with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. It was established to provide educational opportunities to ensure that there are qualified, trained staff along the long-term living continuum. P4A welcomes input and participation from consumers, advocates, and professionals serving seniors and persons with disabilities. It is our goal to maintain professional standards for all members and staff, to honor and continuously improve the quality of life, independence, and dignity of Pennsylvania's aging population. Within Pennsylvania, 52 AAAs serve the 67 counties of the Commonwealth. Some are units of county government and others are independent organizations. The Area Agencies on Aging serve as community focal points to coordinate services for older people and to responsibly represent the issues and concerns of the aging population. Area Agencies on Aging provide a wide variety of services and support that make it possible for people to maximize their independence and live with dignity in their homes and communities:
