The Pennsylvania Statewide Doula Apprenticeship Program has officially launched! 🎉

Yesterday, October 19, we celebrated the launch of the first statewide doula apprenticeship program of its kind in the nation!

This year-long, earn-while-you-learn program will create new opportunities for aspiring doulas to receive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience while strengthening access to doula care across Pennsylvania.

We’re now inviting individuals across Pennsylvania to express their interest in participating as:
• Apprentices (Mentees): Individuals interested in becoming doulas
• Journeyworkers (Mentors): Experienced doulas interested in mentoring the next generation

We kicked off the summer sharing a meal to welcome our 2026 cohort of our UPenn Summer Research in Women’s Health Program to Philadelphia with as they begin eight weeks of research, mentorship, and professional development.💪🏾

Our PRW team, Program Alumni—Joseph (Incoming MS1 UPenn Perelman School of Medicine) and Stacey (Incoming MS1 Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Jefferson University, Dr. Abike James, and Program Coordinator Camilla Augustus (MS2, UPenn Perelman School of Medicine) had the opportunity to connect with scholars before the start of their summer experience.
