Michael Hillegas Chapter- Daughters of the American Revolution Michael Hillegas meets the Third Saturday of every month from September to May at Methodist Church in Harrisburg,IL. (Journals of Congress, Vol. I, p. 376.)

Success in business gave him an ample fortune,a considerable part of which he contributed by gift and loan to the support of the army, during the struggle for independence. He was one of the commissioners appointed to locate and erect Fort Mufflin. He was a membe

r of the Provincial Assembly of Pennsylvania, being one of the representatives from Philadelphia (one of the three original counties), from 1765 to 1775 inclusive. (Pennsylvania Archives, 2nd Series, IX, 727.))

Michael Hillegas was appointed Treasurer of the United States on the 6th day of August, 1776.

KDS is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Hodges as Development Director. Mr. Hodges will have the primary responsibility for all fundraising activities and constituent communications with the goal of generating diversified and sustainable income to achieve the school’s mission.

Jason is a 1997 graduate of KDS. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2002. Since graduation, he has accumulated more than 16 years of experience in the graphic design and marketing industry through his freelance business. Jason also gained experience in fundraising during his three years as chairman of the Grant Playground and Recreation Association (GPRA), which is an organization founded to provide support for Kidtopia Playground in Grant.

On accepting the position at KDS, Mr. Hodges said, “I am humbled and honored to work for the school that has been such a big part of my entire life, and I look forward to doing my part to ensure that the special place known as the gem of Gunter Mountain continues to shine for generations to come.”

Jason has been married to Kathie Hodges, a 1996 KDS graduate, for 21 years and has three children – two of whom, Regan and Reid, currently attend KDS and one, Rylee, who is a 2022 KDS graduate. He and his family live in Grant. In his spare time, Jason enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and relic hunting.

Mr. Hodges began his position as KDS Development Director on August 1st. He replaces Beth Cagle who retired at the beginning of June.

Hindman Settlement School is looking for Volunteer Coordinators to help with the humanitarian effort in Knott County. The individuals chosen for the position will be responsible for leading resource distribution and organize volunteers. The pay is $20 per hour.

💜 KENTUCKY STRONG CHARITY PINT 💜

We are heartbroken from the news of the deadly floods in Eastern Kentucky and want to help our neighbors in any small way we can!

To do our part, we are creating a limited run of KENTUCKY STRONG pints that will benefit the Hindman Settlement School in Knott County. We can't bring back those who were lost and we can't bring back the homes that were swept away, but we can help support the relief efforts.
