Hard Work. Big Goals. A Bright Future.

Dominique Harper has a goal: a career in nursing. As a guest at Bethesda Mission’s Women’s Mission, she is taking steps toward that goal through HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College’s Allied Health program.

Recently, Dominique received a laptop from the BAM (Be A Mensch) Fund to help support her education. Women’s Mission Director, Beverly Treat, had the privilege of presenting it to her at HACC.

The BAM Fund was created by Mitchell and Cindy Mensch in honor of their mother, Phyllis Clark, who dedicated countless hours to helping survivors of domestic abuse and their children.

Along with the laptop, Mitchell and Cindy sent Dominique a personal letter recognizing the progress she has made and encouraging her as she continues her education and works toward her career goals.

Congratulations, Dominique! We’re excited to see where your hard work and determination take you.

Investing in Hope, Together

A heartfelt thank you to High Hotels Ltd. for their $950 donation to Bethesda Mission's Women's Mission.

David Jacobs, CHA of High Hotels and the TownePlace Suites Harrisburg-West, Mechanicsburg have been friends of Bethesda Mission for years. Each holiday season, they bless our guests by preparing and serving a special meal. This gift is another way they are caring for the women and children at our Women's Mission.

The Aprons Were On!

Last week our Administrative Team traded the office for the kitchen and prepared and served lunch for the guests and staff at Bethesda Mission's Women's Mission.

There was plenty of cooking, serving, laughing and judging by the photos, George may have found a new calling!

We had a great time spending the afternoon together and serving the women and children at the Mission.

Come See What It Means to Inspire Hope

We hear it all the time after someone tours Bethesda Mission: “I had no idea you did all of this.”

There is so much happening every day at Bethesda Mission that can be hard to understand until you see it firsthand. A tour is an opportunity to see our facilities, learn about our programs, and better understand how we serve men, women, and children throughout the Harrisburg area.

Yesterday, we enjoyed welcoming Alyssa Shriner from PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Hampden, Josh Flinchbaugh and Tiffany Heist from Blue Mountain Thrift Store, John Grayshaw from Dauphin County Library System, and Corey Jerry from the Keller House and Realtor & networking group

Friday was Jackson's last day as a summer intern at Bethesda Mission's Men's Mission.

Over the summer, he became a big part of the Men's Mission community. This photo is a beautiful reminder of the relationships that were built along the way.

Years before Stephanie retired, she made herself a promise.

Every time she walked along the Susquehanna River, she saw people experiencing homelessness and thought, One day, I want to help.

Today, she's one of Bethesda Mission's most dedicated volunteers.

When I asked what she would say to someone who's nervous about volunteering, she didn't hesitate:
"Please, please do it. You would be amazed at how just a few hours of your time can make a difference in somebody else's life—as well as your own."

Fresh Produce. Lasting Partnership.

We're grateful to Oak View Group Oak View Group Hospitality, which manages food service for the Harrisburg Senators, for donating surplus fresh produce following last week's homestand.

Pictured are John P. Booth, General Manager of Food Service, and Chef Stew Ireland presenting the donation to Bethesda Mission's Chef Clark Sikes and Charles Shadle.

Because of the time between homestands, the produce couldn't be used at the ballpark. Thanks to John, a longtime supporter of Bethesda Mission, and Chef Stew, it found a new purpose by helping provide fresh, nutritious meals for the men, women, and children we serve.

Sharing Stories of Hope 🎵

We were grateful to welcome the choir from New Life For Girls - Dover, PA to the Men's Mission Chapel yesterday.

Their worship music and powerful testimonies of transformed lives were an encouragement to our guests and a beautiful reminder that hope is possible.

Thank you to the women of New Life for Girls for spending the evening with us and sharing your stories.
