The Zonta Club of Harrisburg-Hershey is selling pecans again this year as a fundraiser. The pecans are mammoth halves with 200-275 per 16 oz bag and come directly from Georgia. They are not available in retail stores. They are perfect for holiday baking & cooking or eating by themselves. Also perfect for freezing to use when needed.

This year we are also selling bags of 12 oz Milk Chocolate Pecans and 8 oz Pecan Caramel Clusters. Order prior to October 23th

This fundraiser supports service grants to local organizations and Zonta International. This purchase supports services to women within the community. The Zonta Club of Harrisburg-Hershey Foundation is a 501c3 organization.

You are invited to attend the Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women Advocacy Event on Tuesday, November 17 at 12 noon in the Main Rotunda of the PA State Capitol. This year the event is addressing Housing Insecurity: Women and Girls.

Come Early! Community Resource Fair - 10 am - 12 noon
Representatives from participating community organizations
eliminating housing insecurity will be available to speak with
attendees and share information and resources.

This event is held in recognition of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Zonta supports DVSCP and the work that they do. Please join us at this vigil. It is a very moving experience.

Join us at 6:00pm on Thursday, October 15, as we come together to remember and honor the lives lost too soon to domestic violence. We’ll hear from Robert Attaway as he shares his family’s personal experience, and the Silent Witness Exhibit will be on display throughout the evening.

We’ll close with a candle lighting ceremony as we read each of the names of those we remember. Afterward, we invite the community to stay, connect, and continue the conversation over light refreshments.

When you think back to being 16, what were you doing? Learning to drive? Studying, spending time with friends, or dreaming about your future?

You were still a child.

According to the United Nations, more than 12 million girls are married before adulthood each year, about one girl every three seconds. But progress is possible. The UN estimates that 68 million child marriages have been prevented over the past 25 years.

Here in Pennsylvania, progress has also been made. The Zonta Club of Harrisburg-Hershey joined advocacy efforts to end child marriage in the Commonwealth, supporting legislation that established 18 as the minimum age for marriage. In 2020, Pennsylvania enacted that protection, and marriage licenses can no longer be issued to anyone under 18.

How can we continue to invest in girls here at home? Support their education and opportunities. Mentor and encourage them. Advocate for safe and equitable schools and communities. Listen to their voices and make sure they have a seat at the table.

Every girl deserves the chance to learn, grow, dream and choose her own future.

Congratulations to California for becoming the 18th state to ban Child Marriage in their state.

📢 California is now the 18th U.S. state to ban child marriage with no exceptions.

A special shoutout to our Zonta clubs across California that have worked to raise awareness about child marriage and advocate for stronger protections for children. 🧡

Zonta members, family and friends participated in the Walk the Mile Because HERstory Counts event hosted by the YWCA Carlisle last evening. Thanks to Mandi for coordinating the event. It was great fun!

Zonta members volunteered at the 40th Annual New Cumberland Apple Festival this Saturday offering parking to the visitors. It has been a tradition for the Zonta Club to do this as our first fundraiser of the year. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Members attended the District 3 Governor's Conference in MD on Saturday. The theme was Climate Justice Community Action Collective Impact - Discover Pathways to Incorporate Climate Justice Action. It was well received. There are 24 clubs in Zonta District 3. Zonta Club of Harrisburg-Hershey was the recipient of a $500.00 membership grant.
