📣 WORKFORCE WIN: Senate Bill 115 is moving forward!
SB 115 was unanimously reported out of the Pennsylvania House Human Services Committee with no changes — another important step toward strengthening Pennsylvania’s long-term care workforce.
The legislation would remove an unnecessary barrier that can prevent otherwise-qualified individuals from working as direct care staff in personal care homes and assisted living residences simply because they do not have a U.S. high school diploma or GED.
For long-term care providers continuing to navigate significant workforce challenges, we need commonsense solutions that expand pathways into caregiving careers, recognize the skills and qualifications individuals bring to the workforce, and help providers recruit the caregivers they need to serve Pennsylvania’s seniors.
Thank you to House Human Services Committee Chairman Rep. Dan Williams, Republican Chairman PA State Rep. Doyle Heffley and members of the committee for their unanimous support of this important workforce legislation.
PHCA is proud to support SB 115 and looks forward to continuing to advocate for its passage.
