What a powerful and unforgettable evening.
Sankofa extends our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, shared in the experience, supported the artists, and helped make this extraordinary event possible. Through raw, truthful, edgy, funny, encouraging, beautiful, touching, engaging, and at times shocking stories, we were reminded of the incredible power of storytelling to bring people together.
A special and heartfelt thank-you to **Melinda Anderson “Melly Mel,” Sankofa Board Member**, who single-handedly envisioned, produced, and directed this remarkable project. With passion, purpose, and deep commitment, Melinda created this evening as a way to introduce York to Sankofa’s work and mission, raise support for Sankofa, and honor what she has learned through her own involvement with the organization.
Thank you to every performer who offered their voice and truth, every crew member and volunteer who helped bring the vision to life, and every audience member who listened, responded, and showed up in community.
This was more than an event. It was a gathering rooted in courage, connection, creativity, and the belief that our stories matter.
