Obedience for the Hunt Test Competitor

Saturday June 20, 2026 - 9 AM to 5 PM
Mt Ararat Farm, Port Deposit, Maryland
This will be followed by a Skills Practice Day for all participants,
Working and Auditors, and their one dog on
Sunday June 21, 2026 - 9 AM to 3 PM
The practice day will be led by WRC Training Staff.
At the Saturday Workshop, working teams will participate in exercises designed to cover:
• Impulse Control and Training
• Strategies for Everyday Training
• Teaching Dogs to Wait for Their Turn
• Calming Techniques
• Making Sure of the Basics: Walking at Heel, Stay and Recall
• Working by Yourself
• Steadiness and Honoring
• Walking to the Line and Line Manners
The day will conclude with a set of marks so that working teams will have the opportunity
to practice incorporating all of these skills into training in the field.
Working teams will be limited to 15 at a cost of $150.00 per team.
Auditors spots are limited 25 at cost of $75.00.
About the Instructors: Betsy Sapicchio and Linda Brennan
Betsy and Linda have been training, competing and teaching competition obedience for over
forty years. They have both competed successfully at national and regional tournaments and
are well known for giving obedience workshops around the country. Betsy has earned
Obedience Trial Championships on ten dogs, achieved 56 perfect 200 scores, and her dog Zen
was the 2021 Obedience Dog of the Year. Linda has earned several OTCHs, as well as MACHs,
conformation Championships and a RACH. Both Betsy and Linda have successfully competed in
many different dog sports and earned titles with a variety of breeds. Their students have also
achieved success, with thousands of titles over the years including many OTCHs. Betsy and
Linda have taken up retriever hunt test training over the last few years with their Goldens and
Labs. They bring the perspective and experiences of their long career in competition obedience
and other sports into the world of retriever training.
