Lend A Hand’s 150th trip since its founding in 1989, will take place the week of October 5-11, when we travel to New Bern, N.C. to repair homes damaged by storms as far back as 2018. The vast majority of our trips (about 130) have occurred since Hurricane Katrina (2005) at which time LAH became a mission of the Presbytery. As part of the anniversary celebration, the cost of the trip will be only $50 which includes room and board, and transportation. To register, go to http://www.lendahand.net and fill out the form.

We have 2 trips planned for New Bern, NC before the end of the year. Oct. 20-27 and Nov. 17-23. We are also looking into the situation in western NC to see where we can help. Presently it is too early to get involved, especially finding a place to stay etc. when there are so many people displaced by the flooding. More information will come as it becomes available.

The location for our September 22-28 trip has changed. We will be going to a new area, in and around Crisfield, Md. This area was hit with tidal flooding in 2021. This project is for elevating and rebuilding homes as well as repairs to some of the existing homes. The work involves multiple jobs and skill levels. Much of the work seems to be drywall, taping, flooring, painting and finishing woodwork among other things The Mennonite Disaster Services organization has been rebuilding the homes and are heavily involved in the area. All volunteers stay at what they call "Base Camp." It is a building that has room for 40 people to sleep dormitory style in bunk beds. Separate rooms for men and women, although they have some spaces for couples who come. The cost of this trip will be $125 and will cover transportation, housing and food. Applications can be found on our website:Lendahand.net
