It's that time of year again! If you see a clump of bees in a tree, on a post, or a bush—don't panic and don't spray! Swarms are a honeybees natural method of making more colonies. They are not nearly as defensive at this stage because they are not protecting brood or honey stores.

We realize they can settle in problematic locations, so if you see one, please contact us or one of our swarm collectors at this link so they can safely remove it: http://cabapa.org/copy-of-swarm-collectionwork

At our meeting on Friday we discussed the lanternflies. Even though many have migrated west, there's still quite a few in Central PA. Right now they are in their nymph stage (second instar).

Are you seeing any in your area?

If you don't want any lanternfly honeydew in your honey, this is your reminder to plan your extracting accordingly!
