Ever wonder why the majority of Pennsylvanians want to see Victoria's Law put up for a fair vote and signed into law? Ellie is why. Mass production of puppies leads to suffering and pet stores who sell puppies are a proven financial outlet for that cruelty.
Will you speak up and make your voice heard? Do it for all of the Ellie’s out there.
On this Puppy Mill Awareness Day, we want to share a story with you about a recent rescue we did with a not so happy ending.
We told you recently that things have been a bit stressful lately and this brief story will give you a bit more insight into why our hearts have been extra heavy.
This was Ellie.
From the time our volunteer picked up Ellie to the time she got to the emergency hospital, she declined rapidly that we needed to say goodbye.
Ellie was born with severe hydrocephalus and went from walking, eating, and standing to barely able to move. Her first five weeks on this Earth were with her mom and siblings with the intention of her being sold like the rest of them until they all rejected her. Her last hours were at least wrapped in love and care.
There was absolutely nothing that could be done to save her or we would have done it. She was actively dying in our arms.
Ellie was here and she was important to us but she never should have been born. Greed demanded that. Those who keep buying puppy mill puppies continue to buy into cruelty. Those who produce puppies for profit keep the cycle going.
Here is the only good news to come from this tragedy…Ellie’s dad was rescued the week before she was picked up at the farm and after educating the breeder, she released her mother this week. As usual, NOT ONE PENNY was paid for the release of any of the dogs and we are happy that her parents are no longer part of the production cycle.
Rest in peace, Ellie. We loved you.
